OK guys, I'm now settled between a Couger and PX4 in 9mm... and can't make up my mind. Can anyone sell me on one or another? Prices I'm looking at are $400 for the Cougar with 4 mags or $500 for the PX4 with 2 mags. They're so similar I can't decide. Logically, I'm leaning towards the Cougar with the 2 extra mags and extra $100 saved, but something about the PX4 keeps calling to me. Can someone sell me on one or the other for my first range/HD piece???

SAME/SIMILAR
the PX4 is based off the Cougar (Beretta at the time, before they shipped the factory to Turkey and turned the line over to a second line brand)

It's a steal, it's metal, where the PX4 is polymer
past that it's up to you

Basically the same gun. The Cougar is all steel and the PX4 has a
polymer frame. I have them both in .40 S&W and a Cougar in .45ACP
as well. Without a doubt, I would go with the Cougar. It is a great
value and a very good shooter.

Yep, it's pretty much alloy vs. poly frame because otherwise they're not that much different, I had a Cougar for a while and if faced with the same choice I'd pick the Cougar again with zero hesitation.

Really you can't go wrong with either choice, but I think the Cougar is the better gun. The PX4 is Berettas attempt to cut down on the cost of the gun by making it plastic IMHO.

Have both. 3k rds fired through the Cougar without a single malfunction. Best value on the current market. $369 NIB where I live.

Purchased the PX4 full size on a whim, never owned a polymer firearm. First range trip with the PX4 shot a full mag & I was absolutely blown away. 250 rds later & I was ecstatic. I have never shot a 9mm handgun as accurately as this one & the gun did it so effortlessly.

I purchased the PX4 Compact a week ago & I shoot it every bit as well as the full sized.

The ergonomics of the PX4 fits my hand better than the Cougar, as well as, any other 9mm that Ive held or shot. I'm sure that has a lot to do with it

I have a Cougar in 9mm and just got one in .45 also. I like them a lot. I have also briefly tried my friend's PX4 in 9mm. I liked it also and shot well with it. But I find myself moving away from the polymer guns. They just don't seem as robust as the metal pistols (although I won't be getting rid of my XDm). So, that said, I would go with the Cougar. Here is a new picture of the 9mm:

I have the Stoeger Cougar 8000 F 9mm, 8045 .45 ACP and a Beretta Px4 Inox 9mm. The Stoegers are aluminum alloy frames, the PX4 is polymer. The PX4 frame feels slick to me but a Hogue Handall slip on grip sloved that problem. All three guns are very accurate, very reliable and well made, but I tend to shoot the PX4 and the 8045 a little more accurately than the Cougar 8000. I paid $419 for the Cougar 8000, $450 for the 8045 and $600 for the PX4 Inox. For the money the Cougar is the best buy. Having said that, the PX4 is fast becoming my favorite 9mm. You can't go wrong with either gun, but if you can shoot them before you buy that might sway you one way or the other.
