Stopped by LGS to look at a Colt revolver but....

Walked out with this instead.
A S&W 61-3. It's a 22lr made around 1972.
It was just too cool to leave behind and I thought the price was decent so, what the heck.

The barrel is mounted in the frame, below the slide, which S&W did on some of their newer models also.
I will get it cleaned up and lubed maybe this weekend and shoot it.

I know these little guys were never the flagship of the S&W semiauto line up.
I'm hoping it shoots ok.
Range report will follow.
If it is fairly reliable that will be the icing on the cake.

I have a Colt vest pocket 25 cal.Looks cool as well.I wont depend on it for carry but I do shoot it.

I had one, unfortunately didn’t do anything for me. If I remember, the slide spring was above the barrel, kind of an oddball.

Sold it to a local gun store where it sat for years, even though at a reasonable price. Made me feel bad every time I went in there and saw it, poor guy couldn’t get rid of it. Was hoping he’d forgot it was me who’d sold it to him.

I put 50 rounds of Federal AM through it today. Several FTEs. I'm hoping a good cleaning will help. I wasn't able to get it cleaned before I fired it.
