This is an actual job application that a 75 year old senior citizen
submitted to Walmart in Arkansas.

They hired him because he was so funny.........you gotta love it!!!

NAME: George Martin

SEX: Not lately, but I am looking for the right woman (or at least one
that will cooperate)

DESIRED POSITION: Company's President or Vice President. But seriously,
whatever's available. If I was in a position to be picky, I wouldn't be
applying here in the first place.

DESIRED SALARY: $185,000 a year plus stock options and a Micha el Ovitz style
severance package. If that's not possible, make an offer and we can haggle.

EDUCATION: Yes.

LAST POSITION HELD: Target for middle management hostility.

PREVIOUS SALARY: A lot less than I'm worth.

MOST NOTABLE ACHIEVEMENT: My incredible collection of stolen pens and
post-it notes.

REASON FOR LEAVING: It sucked.

HOURS AVAILABLE TO WORK: Any.

PREFERRED HOURS: 1:30-3:30 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday.

DO YOU HAVE ANY SPECIAL SKILLS?: Yes, but they're better suited to a more
intimate environment.

MAY WE CONTACT YOUR CURRENT EMPLOYER?: If I had one, would I be here?

DO YOU HAVE ANY PHYSICAL CONDITIONS THAT WOULD PROHIBIT YOU FROM LIFTING UP
TO 50 lbs.?: Of what?

DO YOU HAVE A CAR?: I think the more appropriate question here would be "Do
you have a car that runs?"

HAVE YOU RECEIVED ANY SPECIAL AWARDS OR RECOGNITION?: I may already be a
winner of the Publishers Clearing House Sweepstakes, so they tell me.

DO YOU SMOKE?: On the job - no! On my breaks - yes!

WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO BE DOING IN FIVE YEARS?: Living in the Bahamas with a
fabulously wealthy dumb sexy blonde supermodel who thinks I'm the greatest
thing since sliced bread. Actually, I'd like to be doing that now.

NEAREST RELATIVE....7 miles

DO YOU CERTIFY THAT THE ABOVE IS TRUE AND COMPLETE TO THE BEST OF YOUR
KNOWLEDGE?: Oh yes, absolutely.

***Old People Rock!

I wouldn't worry too much.

I'm willing to bet dollars to doughnuts that the survey was created by a company that autozone contracted out to. Furthermore, the question about shooting sports is probably a "throw-away" question to make the survey appear broader, or is used in cunjunction with more subtle risk questions like: "Have you ever been convicted of a felony?" :scrutiny:

In my job I deal with autozone employees from all across the country on a daily basis. If an intrest in firearms was enough to bar you from employment, they woul lose 70-80% of their workforce.

I applied for a security position at a company, that does a fair bit of Government contract work (been working there for several years now)they had me do several test's and a psych evaluation and sent me back again, because according to the results, Stalin and Hitler were well adjusted individuals :D Then I answered it the way I figured they wanted.

Last time I looked my boss still had it in his desk drawer, to give out, when management think's about doing any retesting of current employee's.

My favorite question was was:

If you are in a situation where a person has a gun and is shooting at you and you have a gun, what will be your immediate response?

Run, seek cover and call for help, shoot back or give up.

I checked Run, Seek cover and call for help and shoot back putting numbers by each of them, then wrote underneath, but first run them over with truck ( I was being hired to drive, not get out of the vehicle, 8 tons of steel and rubber is a lot more effective than 230 grains of lead and copper)

Was sort of funny, how anti gun the evaluations forms were when the the job application clearly indicated a familiarity with long and short arms was preferred and further training would be provided.:scrutiny:

4.) I will gladly give up anything that belongs to Domino's. Money, pizza, whatever you want. I will NOT give up anything of mine. I am supposed to just give the robber (who will likely never get caught) my wallet with my IDs that have my address on it and my bank cards? No way!
I was thinking the same way. Domino's may have a right to tell me to surrender anything that's Domino's property, but they have no right to tell me I must surrender MY money, MY identification, the keys to MY house, and/or MY car.

:cuss:

Now, here's the kicker, when they returnd the results, under the heading of "things you can do to reduce your health risks", among other things was the advice to "avoid handguns".
Considering that there are probably more injuries every year from slips and falls in the bath tub or on stairs, it seems only fair that such intrusive and unsolicited "health" advice should also include a recommendation to avoid bath tubs and stairs.

In case anyone is planning on picking up an application for AutoZone to see what happens, the questionaire is not on the paper application (I filled one of those out before.). The 50 questions are only on the on-line application through the AutoZone.com website.

Well

I applied at Autozone and remember that test. It was interesting.

I didn't like the questions asking me about what my friends do. It was something like "Do you think it's okay for your friends to do drugs?"

The manager didn't care. I decided to sit at home rather than work for $6/hr. God I love being American!

Jim Keenan - Post 19

I agree with Mr. Keenan.

I do not trust the folks that write certain questions, such as firearms ownership and use, to have MY best interest and Freedoms in mind when these types of questions are asked of me.

Control.

To me, it is all about Control. Whether disguised as control by government , insurance company or personal belief system of a Company.

Last I heard I was Free, and had Rights - no matter the color of my skin, any creed, culture or religion.

I understand wanting to know whom you are applying for a job with, and whom you are considering hiring for a job.
I understand about "personality tests" to see if one is suited for certain types of jobs and othe "tests".
Sure, some questions are just to see if a person *will* answer a question. Like the old saw about asking a ladies age - not really wanting to know the age, instead will the lady tell you.

Information Technology is great. I use and really like all the communication tools afforded me. When I was hiring and firing folks, I could see where "weeding out" would have been "faster" - still I am glad I did have IT as we do today. I was able to learn some correct basic fundamentals about life and interacting with society.
I can and do still use these basic correct fundamentals.
With IT I can still implement these...I do not "have to" have a computer or Internet to conduct activities of daily living (ADLs) such as employment.

Face to Face, eyeball to eyeball , and the firm handshake still goes a helluva lot further in establishing a business relationship on all levels.

The actual ? was

answer the following, yes or no.
"I don't enjoy shooting guns"

I filled out their stupid application, with questionnaire, online. 81 questions. don't answer a question, go no further.
Thank goodness i had the stones to fill out that application, in my wife's name:D
Hope she doesn't get hired:p
Seriously though, "I don't enjoy shooting guns" was question # 69. You have to answer, yes or no.
How do you answer that?
"No, I don't enjoy shooting guns" Makes sense.
"Yes, I don't enjoy shooting guns" Not so much.
Both answers=same to me

answer the following, yes or no.
"I don't enjoy shooting guns"

The correct answer is:

"The above is not a question, it is a statement."

I do believe I would have answered the question,
"Yes, I enjoy shooting guns but my real joy comes from throwing hand grenades!"

This is way to vague of a question. What kind of gun? Did they mean pop gun, cap gun, pellet gun, BB gun, stun gun........? I am in a position where I hire people and once had a prospective employee tell me during a previous interview he was asked if you dropped a bowling ball into the ocean, how long would it take to hit the bottom. I think i'll try that one sometime; the answers could be very interesting :D . You could find out a lot about the person you are hiring with just that one question :scrutiny: .
