With this recent Zumbo incident most if not all gun owners are strongly united. We need to seize the day and stop a future AWB. The government is trying to pass this new ban by piggy backing it in with a bill to research near earth objects. The time is now write your government leaders and make them stop this. The bill is H.R.1022. I urge you to research this yourself then start mailing letters. I also urge you to spread the word post this on all gun forums you are a member of. Don't forget to inform your friends and family as well.

Here are a few links with information:

so much for my dreams of growing up in a free country. i really feel sorry for the scientists who may or may not get financial backing because some pos politician put this completely irrelevant issue onto their worth-while bill.

I just received this in my NSSF email. Fight now or suffer later.

CONNECTICUT EYES ONE GUN A MONTH . . . Following a public hearing held last week, proposed legislation that would ban law-abiding citizens from purchasing more than one handgun a month has been set for a final committee vote on March 8. If passed out of the Public Safety Committee, the bill, sponsored by Sens. Martin Looney (D-11) and Toni Harp (D-10), would be sent for a vote on the Senate floor. Please contact your legislators immediately and respectfully urge them to oppose SB 938.

If you read threu the main Zumbo Thread here on THR, you will see theres alot of opposing views... THR dissapoints alot in that way, so many folks here just don't see the need for "that kind of gun" ...

We even have guys here voting for "Pro Gun Dems" but they fail to look at the big picture(the big picture being the Dem leadership is terribly anti Gun and wants to ban guns on the backs of the little guy politician). Wake up America.

Wait!

I don't think they're piggybacking the AWB on near-earth objects. That bill was from June 3, 2005. Congressional bill numbers just get recycled.

*edit- And I don't mean wait and contact your rep's later. But rather wait and double check this before writing and saying they're going to use spaceships to steal our guns or whatever. They might think the tinfoil hats have cooked our brains. :D

illspirit I have looked into more. You could be correct but I'm no politician so I don't know for certain.

It says these things at the top
AWB
110th U.S. Congress (2007-2008)

Earth Object Study
109th U.S. Congress (2005-2006)

Does that mean that they are different bills just the same number?

It'd also do good to publicize the "Brady Bunch's" attacks on sporting rifles. It's time to hammer home the point to the fudds that "Don't believe them. Your guns are not safe either."

Yes, that's what it means. The bill numbers in congress are reused every year. The actual bill number for a given piece of legislation is often referred to with the year of introduction included, due to this fact.
