Stupid question of the week: how expensive/difficult is it to thread an AR15 barrel?

Most bores aren't concentric with the outside of the barrel. Hense the need for the lathe to cut the shoulder for the threads that IS consentric with the bore. For a standard thread like what would be used for a muzzle break I would just buy the proper die and use the die holder on my lathe to keep it lined up... after cutting the concentric shoulder. This is much easier and faster than single point threading the barrel on the lathe.

I have been given a bushmaster A2 HBAR type with a plain barrel/muzzle. I’m opposed to non threaded AR barrels on general principle but how big a hassle is it? Should I send it somewhere to get threaded or should I try it myself?

Or should I actually just shoot it and not worry about it.... but what’s the fun in that

Send me the barrel, and I’ll thread it for $75 + return shipping. PM me if you’re interested.

Let's do some math. $10,000 for a good lathe and all the tooling. $1600 for 2 semesters of lathe and advanced lathe classes at your local trade school. Or $350 for a new complete upper and bolt carrier group Yea, it's doable. Or you can take Gunman1981 up on his offer to do it for $75 plus shipping.
