There is this big black cat that keeps coming into my yard and beating up my smaller cat :fire:. I have tried running at him screaming and shooting at him with my full-auto airsoft gun. But he just keeps coming back, What should I do?

Keeping your cat inside is a good idea; you wouldn't want it going into others backyards and causing them the same problems you are experiencing.

If the cat appears to be feral kill it the next time you see it. No questions, no hesitation. Just do a search to find out why.

If it belongs to your neighbor, maybe try a live trap. Bring it to 'em and have a discussion about allowing pets to roam free.

You running and screaming while firing a full-auto AirSoft.

:D

I am sure the cat's owners will be happy to sit down and talk to you...!

Rambo Style!

It actually tried to hide behind my metal quad shed put i put about thirty rounds on the shed made alot of noise, hasnt been back for about 3 hours now.

Cats are stupid, just shoot the damn thing and bury it in your yard. What I can't stand is cats are allowed to roam free with no restictions, and talking to your neighbor is probably useless.

You could always use a 30-06 with a rapid expanding bullet ie. Ballistic Tip. I used my FN FAL to get rid of a feral cat a few years back. Man, that .308 really did the job.

No lethality

I dont want to use lethal force because i still havent determined if it is feral or not. And if it is not feral i could be charged.

personally, i'd break out the lethal means - but if you truly don't want to do that yet, shoot it w/ a bb gun every time it comes in your yard. painful, but not lethal and no long-term ill effects as long as you are reasonably careful and accurate. after being shot once or twice w/ bb's/pellets, it will associate your yard w/ pain, and no longer come over. start w/ a non-skin-breaking power level and shoot it in the hindquarters. escalate the power level to match the cat's desire to be in your yard.

We have the same problem, but it's a tabby cat that beats up our manx. Keeping him inside doesn't work, then he just pees everywhere and whines at the door.

But he has figured out how to solve the problem a little bit. He runs back to the front door, and makes enough noise for our German Shepherd Dog to hear, and she comes and starts growling at the other cat. Usually keeps the cat back from our cat a good 20 feet or so.

To give the cat even more fear, I sometimes open the door with the GSD on the lease to give it a good scare.

Yesterday I snuck around with the dog and flanked the cat and really frightened him.

I am tempted let our dog out to just finish off the damn thing, but I would then have to deal with the neighbors.

Don't want to kill the offender?

 Your only choice is to teach your puny cat some Kung Fu and perhaps git him on some steroids. Try some ankle weights to build up muscles...Sharpen claws etc...

There was a stray running loose in my neighborhood quite a while back. I lured it with a can of tuna. It was looking for a home so first I called the number on his collar and a guy came and picked him up. The cat escaped from his car before they left the condo grounds and when I came back from working out I got the full story from a neighbor, guy was a real jerk. About an hour later I found the cat again. This time I tossed the collar, took him to a vet for a check-up and shots, and over the next few weeks/months proceeded to get him back up to a normal weight. Great cat, very easy going, had him another eight years.

In your case, I'd get one of the live traps available through animal control and let them deal with the problem.

ya randomly whack birds from your 4 wheeler, why not shoot the miserable cat and be done with it. wandering cats are a hell of a lot bigger problem than spring songbirds :banghead:

Oddly enough lethal means don't always work either. I was confident that I had blasted that infernal yellow tom that had been spraying everything over the fence and for awhile it had appeared that I had punched his ticket for all nine lives.
But I'll be darned if we didn't pull into the driveway the other night and there the #%^&^*&^ was spraying the front door. I guess I need a full choke.

Well, if you're ruling out sensible things like a .22, you might try a live trap.

When said kitty is caught, wait until shortly before sunrise, and then soak the critter with skunk screen (found at most large gun and hunting stores) before releasing it.

Stinky kitty goes home and makes the inconsiderate owner's home stinky. :D

Maybe he won't inflict his animal's nuisance behavior on his neighbors afterward.

Water pistols work a treat over here and fireworks, not too close to hurt it but close enough so it don't come back.

I keep my cat in, or when he's out it's with me on his leash:)

Get some real strange looks in Blockbuster:what:
