At that price point ($300 or less), you'll be looking mainly at Hi-Point, SCCY, and Taurus pistols. Of the three I would go with Taurus. You've got the G2C at $250-$260, the G3 at $265-$275, and the TH9 Compact at $275. Of those three I would give the TH9 Compact some consideration. Decent compact size, 13/17 round mags, Novak sights, a rail, and a manual safety.

Out of your price range there's the Ruger Security Nine, Compact or Full size at $375.

I have had a Taurus m85, decent little revolver in .38. I currently own a C9, security 9 (actually 2 full size and compact) and several other higher priced pistols and revolvers. I carry the security 9 compact.

my son was looking at the g2c and gx4 Taurus. So I checked them out. Hated the trigger on the 2, the 4 was OK to be generous. Now it may have just been the 2 I handled, both displays in the case. For SD or range shooting I would not chose either of them. I am not anti Taurus just didn’t like these. I also would not SD my HP unless I didn’t have a choice, but it is ok to play with shooting cans etc and is a reliable “truck gun”.

I say this because there are a lot of 300 to 400 guns out there that are better IMO than the two I handled and I would recommend you shoot it if you can or at least dry fire it a couple times and feel and listen to it before you buy.

ymmv.

Nice score!

Haven't seen one in person yet but you can see the kinship it shares with the Sarsilmaz SAR9. I do like the look, size, and mag capacity (15 rounds with the two smaller guns; 17 rounds with the full size version), of both the Compact and Sub-Compact models. Also the price is very reasonable for a decent quality 9mm..

No preference.

You are very limited for a new pistol under $300. Yes there are some at the $399 (plus tax) but what if they ever need service? How is the customer service? Cheap guns are well, cheap. Several of those mention sure look nice but they are just CZ clones.

I would look for a better used gun but even those are hard to find at your price.

Ruger P 85/P89/P94/P95 are great bargains imo.............the 3rd gen S&W pistols are going up& up in price these days. They are 500-750 dollars now!

You could make the rounds of your local shops & see if there is anything used that interests you.

At Christmas time I bought myself a PSA Dagger. It is a 3rd generation Glock 19 clone. The last time I looked they are out of stock. If you want one you have to watch & wait & catch them in stock. They were $300 in December for the base model with a DLC coating. I spent more because I opted for the cerakote finish & night sights. I only have a few hundred rounds through it but so far it has worked. I did buy a couple of Glock magazines & I am thinking about changing the mag catch for a Glock one (magazine catch/release is inexpensive).

I bought a PSA Dagger slide assembly for my Polymer 80 lower. $199 shipped, so my G19 clone cost right around $300.
Came with a threaded barrel, which I could take or leave.
I actually like it more than a Rock Slide USA slide I have, which cost double! The Dagger slide is way less bulky, and lighter. The sights are nice and bright. Now that I stopped resting my thumb on the slide catch, it cycles perfectly.
Overall, I’m impressed with it enough to try the full Dagger. For $299… very tempted.

I was just thinking outside the box a little but a hi-point 9mm PCC can be had for under 300, or at least they used to be. If you are just looking for a 9mm range toy. 995TS.

They move fast. I just found an E-mail PSA sent me yesterday afternoon saying the $299.99 ones were back in stock. It appears they have sold out again already.

I picked up a G2C yesterday, but it's (barely) used. Ugly. Trigger is horrible. Feels like a cheap gun, but I got it for less than a new Hi-Point costs. 16446747229931550209203856274483.jpg
It's purple, not pink. Got an awesome Muddy Girl purple camo holster with it too.
If you can run across something like this, it's so cheap you don't have to expect much out of it. If it works well and shoots good, that's just a bonus.

Already set with a 9mm PCC. The club I'm a member of is really pretty awful when it comes to PCC's as I'm either stuck shooting them inside with a max range of 15 yards or the rifle range where it's pointless to shoot at paper with open sights further than 25 yards and the steel plates they have are 200 yards away, a bit too far for a pistol caliber.

Basically, for my situation a handgun is going to be more enjoyable and less restricted as to where I can shoot it at my range.
