I just bought 2 extra mags for my PT-145 MIL Pro. I do not have the time to test them out right now. Would just racking the slide 10 times in a row real fast give me any indication of how well the new mags will function? Is there any other sort of surrogate mag test one can do in lieu of actually firing? I plan on testing them as soon as I can, but the kids just got out for summer and we have our plates full enough that I have no range time in the near future.

No.

Actually USING them with live fire, using the ammo you want to use on a regular basis is a good start.

If you use them without thorough testing, you're not being smart.

(Besides, if they're EXTRA mags, you've got others to use until you CAN test them. Why risk it?)

Hand-cycling is better than nothing, but is not a substitute for real fire.

Use mags you have tested for carry until you can be sure of these.

If these are back ups, and you don't have others...
Well, having untested mags is better than no mags at all.
