Hello! I put together a 762 AR. I am about to put a foregrip on but I also like to shoot holding right where the barrel touches the lower receiver, not quite touching the magazine. However, there are a couple of bolts right where I place my hand and it can be uncomfortable when I hold it there. Do you have any suggestions for something to cover the bolts with to be more comfortable? Thanks!

There are probably several things that could accomplish that; grip tape, foam, etc.

Question is, how important are aesthetics to you?

Can you replaces the bolts with ones that have flat heads?

These are great questions/points. I need to look into flatheads. My thought on tape and foam is not so much regarding aesthetics, that's not a huge thing for me, but how well will they stay on. Foam especially I would think could easily come off and become non-adhesive after a couple of range sessions. Tape may be more viable. But they also both may be fine!

Given the location, and wanting simple, and reversible, paracord might be the right answer (as long as you don't need the top rail slots directly above).

Lay a loop of cord on the side in the area desired--you want the loop longer than the wraps desired. pass the cord over the loops until you get enough on, then pass the loose end through the loop. Take the loose end of the loop, and tug the loop snug

Alternately, there are a number of spiffy paracord "wraps" that could be used

Next harder decision would be in what color/pattern of paracord to use.

You might be a genius.

Now thats Boatswainsmate stuff there!

Posting my solution of choice here for anyone who comes to the thread later -

I was able to order t15 flathead screws to replace the current round headed screws on the handrail. Beyond that, just to make it more comfortable and easier in that area I ordered hockey tape. It's a cloth-like grip tape so it's perfect for the back few inches of the guard.

Thanks everyone for your help and suggestions.

Third Generation Navy. I grew up with Knight's Modern Seamanship, and the Bluejacket's Manual in near every family house.
No "fidget spinners" for me, I was given line and/or rope yarns to knot up.
I have a 1917 BJM. Also Chappman , Bowditch, & a few others.

I have a 1917 BJM
My oldest is a 1919 Man of War Guide, the ultimate predecessor to the Landing Party Manual. A couple of LPM from my Amphib days.
Knights in 12th, 13th, and 14 Editions. Several BJM, some inherited. Also a couple of 1st & Chief's Boatswain's Guides.

Mind I'm addicted to books, much in the way I'm addicted to firearms :)
