When did we get surplus Beretta 92s (and where did they come from)? Just noticed a PW Arms imported older 92 (92S maybe). Has the heel button mag release, and does have a slide mounted decocker. I guess it would have been marked for country of origin, but I failed to notice that.

I see some around here that are labeled as Police trade ins. Some of them look like they are in pretty good shape and some look like the previous owner drug it behind the squad car on a rope.

PW Arms imported a batch of Beretta 84's from Israel last year. The Beretta 84's were issued to the Mishteret Y’Israel (the Israeli civilian police) the 92's may have come along with them.

Anyone notice the haul of "Turkish" 84 Cheetah clones that Centerfire Systems has in stock in thier new product section? First time I had ever seen a Beretta clone that wasn't licensed by Taurus.

CDNN has turkish 92f clones. I have one. If you didn't look at the roll marks, you'd never know it's not a beretta.

Israel would be a good guess. They've bought a smattering of everything over the years. I wish I would have looked closer for a country of origin import mark.

The import mark will show the country of manfacture, not neccesarily the country the gun was imported from. For instance all the Soviet capture K98's are marked "Germany", and Mosins all say "ussr", or "russia", even though most came here from Ukraine.

By definition the country of origin is the same as the country of mfg.

If a rifle was made in Germany 60 years ago, it's country of origin is still Germany and always will be.
