What would you put on one of these? A sling and some sort red dot sight would make sense. Got any other ideas?

Also, how's the quality on M1 Carbines made by Auto-Ordnance?

Personally, other than maybe the paratrooper version, there really isn't anything that you could do that would make a huge improvement practically speaking.

Ill second that. I think the carbine is fine how it is. Maybe some new sights, like a trintium ghost ring type sight. That with some JHPs, and it will out perform any pistol carbine. Short of a .44/.45LC/.357 levergun maybe.

Choate makes, or at least made, non folding pistol grip stocks for the M-1 carbine. I believe they only fit military and/ or guns made to mil-specs. You would need to contact the mfgr to find out if it would work with your gun. It was filled in in the rear, and was not made to look like a paratrooper carbine stock.

Also, there is a muzzle check and a bell-type flash hider made for the M-1 carbine. They are clamp pn, but prevent bayonet usage when installed.

Addressing the question concerning AO/kahr M1 carbines, I believe they are the cat's meow. Mine does have issues with the safety (will fire with safety engaged), but the fit and finish are excellent. I was astounded by the accuracy as well. However, I was expecting "acceptable" accuracy that would prove on par with my old Universal, but this puppy is a different cat all together.

I just ordered an Ultimak rail for my AK last night and toyed with the idea of ordering one for my M1 Carbine. But mine is a nice Standard Products model so I decided to keep it stock.
