Howdy Pardners!
This was our latest build up....what do you think?

The barrel was shortened down 2 inches from 7.5 to 5.5.
The ejector rod and shroud shortened.
Muzzle has an 11 degree target crown.
Barrel was milled for a Weigand interchangable front sight.
Backstrap has 20 lpi checkering.
All of the pivot pins and center pin was polished.
Trigger was set to three pounds and then the hammer and trigger were polished.
Re-sprung with reduced springs on the trigger and mainspring
Glass bead blast finish.

I must say that's a rather pretty piece there.

I do really like the mixture of modern technological advancements with the Old West feel, it's got a smooth aesthetic to it I like quite a bit.

I'm not a perfect judge of every revolver in the world; what did this one begin life as? Looks a bit like some of the Colt Remakes I've seen, but I won't put my foot in my mouth making a guess. What's it chambered in?

Seems kinda silly... you want the gun to roll backwards into your palm. Now it sounds like a good way to save on the cost of sandpaper if you feel an obsessive need to rub your palm raw. :rolleyes:

Other than that, it's pretty.

Dionysusigma: What kind of gun is that? I've never been able to place Malcolm Reynolds' gun from Firefly.

That's actually a rodeo training device. When you go shootin' vermin, it toughens up the hand for hangin' on during bull riding. Sheesh! I thought everyone knew that! :)

Hmmmmm... what do I think? I think the Devil is in the details. Your execution is very well done, but it's the details that keep catching my attention:
I think the trigger needs to be straightened out just a tad.
I think the trigger and hammer would look better jeweled.
I LOVE the scales, though they look a little thick at the front for my taste
I like the polish line on the cylinder OK, but not the second one to hide the drag line... the timing should be fixed so that it doesn't scar the cylinder in the first place. Barring that, then forego the rear one altogether
I have never even thought of needing checkering on the back of a Bisley grip frame. I don't see any benefit but can think of several reasons not to.
I think the front sight base should match the finish of the barrel. Looks less 'added on' that way. Blalck sight blade is perfectly OK
The bead blasting looks very nice though I cannot say from this picture that it differs markedly from a stock Ruger finish.
I think that barrel rib looks completely out of place on a self described Saloon gun and a fat round or octagonal barrel would look much, much better.
 
That's a Hunter barrel. Kewl. The dimples are Ruger's factory scope ring bases. The hammer/trigger/grip frame set are all Bisley. This could be a Bisley Hunter with just a barrel chop and new front sight addition.

You could have cut the barrel flush with the stock ejector rod? Wouldn't that have given you a 6" tube?

Question: with the new front sight ramp, is the front scope ring base still usable?

That started out as a Super Blackhawk, didn't it?

It's a Bisley. Higher grip hold and lower hammer. The Bisley actually handles more like a modern DA revolver. You don't need it to roll like you do with a traditional SAA grip.

How do you use a scope mount in a saloon?

Looks good, but like March I'd say it looks more like a chopped Hunter then a reworked Vaquero?????
 
As someone whom frequents saloons and will be buying a Ruger SBH-Hunter Next Month I am a little jealous...now if I could only figure out how to chamber a H&K USP for .45 Long Colt.... ;)

Thats a Tactical Light mount.

See, you can hang a Kerosene Lantern on there and it won't slip off and set the saloon on fire during a gunfight! :what:

THATS exactly what I was thinking rcmodel! Sadly I don't know enough about photo shop to put a lantern on top of the gun, but if anyone does, it would be hilarious. :D
 
Pretty slick, but I'm a sucker for the Ruger single actions anyway.

I'd make one suggestion though. If the scope mounts are defunct because of the front sight, I'd weld up the mounting lugs and smooth them back out. I'll bet the extra weight on the barrel sure help with recoil on the hot loads.

Fantastic looking stocks! Who makes them?

I like it alot something different than the norm. But the 6400 dollar question is how.... does it shoot?
