we have all seen those over accessorized AR15s but i figure we should start a thread shoing all the crap that gets screwed and glued to shotguns

you know the poor pumps that have so much junk on em they are almost worthless

lets see your worst

heres one i found doing a random search for a mag extention

I always laugh when I see any type of sighting system on a shotgun. The only thing that could do is delay instinctive shooting. Its a shotgun- bring up, look down rib with zero thought and apply lead to target.

Barrel shrouds leave me wondering a little too- shotgun barrels may get a little hot but not that damn hot.

Verticle grips? Who needs more things to snag on what ever may jump out at the worst time?

Not to mention the extra weight of all the crap.

Just my opinion but a sling is about as far as I take it. Maybe a light if it in goes in place of a mag extension.

dont get me wrong guys there is a time and place for "some" of this stuff but when it ALL ends up on a gun at once its just a chunk of high drag low speed garbage

if ya own one of these just for the SnGs or "cool" factor thats fine but realisticly i just want ammo tube and lighting and thats it and both are optional as long as the gun runs

just figured id share what some are passing off as high end tactical or super HD guns

Damn.... and I just ordered a Blackhawk folding stock and a vertical foregrip for one of mine. I'm havin' buyers remorse and I haven't even recieved them. I just wanted to be able to comfortably turn tight corners in my house with a shotgun. I sawed the barrel off,... still too long. Nothing wrong with building a HD shotty. It's pretty cheap compared to AR's. May even stick a light on it.

I subrscribe to this line of thinking. Build your rig for you. It's that simple. Don't let someone ridicule your choices in building something that's as personal as your HD shotgun. Personally, I think an off the shelf shotgun with those small tinker toy clamps stuck on all over the place is as exciting as a bucket of warm wallpaper paste. But hey, that's me. Everyone is different.

my 1st shotgun (Stoeger 2000 semiauto) had a rib. My 2nd one (Stoeger SP 312), has a bead sight, and I installed a red-dot using Stoeger 2000 B-Square mount

Shooting slugs, my results with 2nd gun are significantly better than with 1st one.

Just my 2 cents.

Dude, you're shooting a .410! ROFL Is that so you have all that spare room for more "stuff" in the gap between the barrel and the mag tube where there should be more cartridge? Nothing, NOTHING, you could do would make that tactiCOOL!!!
;)

This one sleeps in my ready rack. The butt cuff is as tacticool as I care to get and I'm not that fond of it.

Different strokes for different folks. I shoot a pretty simple Remington 870 Express. Only thing I did with it was to replace the original wooden stocks with the synthetic plastic ones (plastic is better for the duck blind). And you know what? The traditionalists still pick on it because it's got "bb gun" stocks and it has a ribbed barrel with those fancy screw-in changeable chokes (for whatever reason the locals despise ribbed barrels, prizing the older fixed choke smooth topped barrels).

To them, my little 870 is "tacticool". To others, anything more than a break action is. I say let people shoot what they want. Given the declining number of gun owners I just see it as counterproductive to ridicule any particular market segment, particularly one that is often what attracts new shooters.

Here is my "low speed high drag tacticool" shotgun:

Say what you want but I find a flashlight a very neccesary tool for home defense. I also find the Aimpoint great for 50 yards to 1 yard quick both eyes open shooting. I have since added a 20 inch barrel with 8 shot mag tube.

Have you ever seen a professional, sponsored trap shooter? Man, they are fast. With a bead no less...no fancy aimpoints or eotechs. If a bead and a rib are good enough for them, they're good enough for me. I could see the desire behind an ultra-fancy, $24 tritium bead on the front. A bead is very fast, natural and there is zero lbs of added weight.

I have an 870 marine magnum that I bought the second year they were available. That's about as tacticool as I get. I don't even have a slip on ammo carrier on the butt.

In all my years of shooting skeet, I've never needed a heat shield. We're talking shooting 100's of rounds through pumps or auto-loaders and the barrel gets a little hot, but not enough to scald you.

I admit that I do like lights added to the front, but I prefer not to use the business end of my shotgun to identify an unknown entity...especially since I have a pubescent child that sleepwalks.

To each his own, though! If someone wants to build an all out tacticool rig, so be it!

The adapter is a Mako, the angle is quite comfortable. Mesa Tactical makes straight adapters so the buffer tube is level with the platform. I think my setup and angle looks awkward but feels comfy.

sorry guys didnt mean to offend anyone what works for you well... works for you so keep at it

i wouldnt pay 1100 to nighthawk for ANYTHING my $500 mossberg does the same job and just as good if not better so im happy

what i was really getting at is the guys that have the red dot sight the tritium ghost rings a light and laser with rails and more shells than one should ever need in a combat zone let alone a HD situation

kind of like the "double the gun" comments about AR owners adding so much crap it doubles the weight of a light rifle and therefor makes it "useless" (not really a good term but all i could think of)

i think the AimPro is a great example with an adjustable stock that has more adjustments than youll ever need a REALLY redundant sighting system and more rails for additional stuff

i agree with a light for HD badguys tend to show up in the dark but really having all that stuff on there kinda slows ya down dont you think?

not really trying to argue just wanted pics of "overdone" tactical shotguns

That's cool just as long as you realize that is your opinion and not neccessarily fact. The evidence presents itself because there ARE people who are paying $1100-$1800 for a Nighthawk, AimPro, or Grizzly 870. Are they all out of their minds? Can't be. Those rigs serve a purpose, and it's up to the shooter to assign that purpose.

Eric

Can't be out of their minds and serve a purpose? My parents had a Pet Rock, I wear a tie, and voters elected Obama President.

c0wboy arent you in enough tacticool trouble with the rhino? just kidding man hope that works out for ya i actualy think its cool and it will probably be a kick ass product once you get everything up and going make one for a 20ga jr express and well talk lol

yea ill admit people do buy those high dollar shotguns but i personaly dont believe in it you can custom up a rifle or pistol and there are things you can have done to a shotgun but nothing is worth quadrupling the price in my opinion (and yea thats just my opinion)

heater nice boomstick

I have no idea. They were on the gun when I stole it from my local shop - $179 out the door two years ago ;) No markings on them that I can see. They're fairly plain-looking (just oak), but the checkering provides good grip and I agree that wood looks a lot better than bakelite.
