Don't know if it was luck or by design but the laser on my "practice" BG380 died. S&W replaced it for free with one of their newer Crimson Trace modules. I put the new module in my carry BG380 and put the one removed back into my Practice gun. Both were well on target when new out of the box, and both that were swapped were dead on after replacing -- knocking down 3" steel triangles at ~15 yards.
OTOH recently got a new Shield 2.0 with the green Crimson Trace factory laser and it was off by about 1 ft out of the box -- hit the plate next to the one I was shooting at from 10 yds. Simple adjustment and its held zero for over 300 rounds since.
I've never really tried to measure it, and I can't see iron sights all that well these days but at ~10 yards with my BG380 its darn close to where the sights align for a "combat" sight picture where the sight covers about about half the bullseye. There is no doubt that with the little BG380 I hit a lot more of the 3" triangles using the laser than using the irons assuming the lighting is such that I can see the laser.
We have had over a week of dreary, gray days so I've got more actual shooting done using laser sights this past week than I had in the previous two years.
