Tales from the Kilt

I bought a sportkilt for use in the highland games and for jogging. I also employ it for backpacking trips too.
It gets a lot of looks when I zip into the grocery store, but it's really cool how many single (and sometimes married) women are into guys in kilts.
And, the sportkilt is really nice to exercise in as opposed to running pants in cool weather.

I'd like a Utilikilt and will likely get one soon. I'm kinda getting hooked on them.

Actually, the welsh are brits. Those obnoxious amadans living to the east of you are Sassenach.

only in recent history. my family were welsh nobles who fought at the battle of hastings against the ancestors of the MODERN brits. unfortunatly, we were on the losing side.

Dude, Kilts are a chick magnet.

My wife didn't believe me (though she was attracted to it) until we were in New Orleans (not Mardi Gras, just a nice spring-time jaunt) and the women kept calling down on the street for me to come up. She exhibited classic characteristics of possession.

That is to say, they fought with the Sassenach, against the Normans.

Neither the Sassenach nor the Normans are "Brits." The Cymru (Welsh) are descendants of the real Britons (or Pritons), who are the same people who fought Julius Caesar.

How cool are these things and why have I never heard of them? I wonder, has anybody ever shot a day of 3 gun in these things? Even now I am picturing myself playing football this upcoming season in the "sport" version.

But you have to do it right.

If you see Braveheart there is a long-range shot where the Scots raise their kilts to the English. If you watch carefully, you notice they do it twice -- the first time giving the English the full frontal view.

The Ancient Celts fought naked, wearing a helmet and carrying a large shield (called Dorus an Catha in Irish -- the Door of Battle.) As they closed with the enemy, they would "open the door," swinging aside the shields so the enemy could see how excited they were.

Being a Scot, I was quite amused to see this fellow at a recent Scottish festival in Ft Worth; he brought a certain Texan je ne sais quoi to the proceedings - I can't quite put my finger on it... ;)
