Talk about crazy ammo prices....

Wow, for the price of four boxes of .470NE ammo you could also buy four boxes of .458 Win...and a Ruger No.1 to shoot it in. For those who have the money though, Good for you.

Actually, that's a DAMN good price.

Yep. This is something of a "boutique" cartridge, and someone who owns a rifle chambered for it probably spent an abusrd amount of money on the rifle. They might shoot it five or six times in a year. When you figure out how much it costs to get a round-trip plane ticket, lodging, and a guide for a week-long safari in Africa, the cost of ammo isn't really a big deal.

I've seen small bags of .700 NE brass go for more than some nice guns.

That's for 45-70. Try shooting these in a 6lb Marlin Guide Gun. Harder on the shoulder than the wallet

I wonder if

they make bullets that I can load for my 500 Magnum!:)

I guess it wouldn't matter if they did. I load Barnes XPB's (X - pistol bullet) that I thought were expensive.

I won't cry about the Barnes solid copper bullet prices any more!:)
I promise!
