I've been shopping for a new pistol for months, jumping and flip flopping back and forth, and I think I want a 250 for an "all around" kinda gun.

I was at the range today, and I was doing significantly better with my SCCY in dao than even my cz75 type guns. I'm thinking it's because I can stack the trigger and my piano player spider fingers don't mess up the dao trigger pull like on regular Single Action firearms.

Anyone else like DAO best? Talk me out of a SIG 250.

Its not a classic sig that the companys known for. When you say you bought a sig people will say oooh when you say 250 they'll say ohhhh. Good luck

The best Sigs I've owned are the 220 and 228. Unfortunately they left me during a financial crisis. Starting with 226, 229, etc. the slide was made of a block of stainless which I "think" was adopted to handle the new to the market .40. Even the metal frame guns feel a bit top heavy. I bought a Sig 250sc 9mm 2 weeks ago. SC = sub compact, the only model I was interested in. The 250 hit the market about 5-6 years ago? They were priced at around $350. I bought mine new for $400 and iit comes with 2 magazines, a change in Sigs 1 mag standard of the past. I REALLY like the DAO trigger concept and it is at least as good as the best revolver I've ever had. The 250 has a good reliability rep. I wouldn't buy a 250 using the advertised "easy to change calibers and frames" hype. Changing the grip frame is $49 but the top end you'll need for a change in calibers is around $300. The 250 sc has a short grip which is about the same as most of the competition, but the heavy side exacerbates the top heavy feel. I bought a 15 rd mag and a spacer that fills the void the longer mag makes. This is the setup I like best. I like this gun but it's more like a compact or full size than a sub compact. The new SIG hot item is tre 320, basically a striker fired 250.

If you are fine with the trigger you will be good to go. Staging the trigger is fine but for me the gun really shines with one constant stoke of the trigger. Staging is fine for range work, but not self-defense. I own two 250, a 9 and 45 full size. I find them as shooters to be the equal of Classics. That is coming from someone who has been shooting SIGs for thirty years.

Ditto Storm...
Very good pistola, solid, great hand-fit and very accurate.
Bought one a couple months back, liked it but couldn't get used to the long DAO trigger (but that's me).
Shot a friends P320 Compact at the range and fell in love... sold the P250 and got a NIB P320C... very happy!
If you're used to DAO triggers, its a great gun/value for the $$s... and its a SIG!

Try one ahead of time - not all DAO guns feel the same.

That said though, the only thing most people don't really like about them IS the trigger. If that part of the gun appeals to you there's not much else wrong with them. They're available in a variety of sizes and are known to be pretty reliable.

I have to say though that personally the only SIG I'd probably be interested in is the P320.

Absolutely loved mine, except for the long (super silky) trigger.
Very reliable, takedown and cleaning is a breeze, good ergonomics (PPQ and VP9 I find better), can even change caliber-but that is a little more complicated/expensive- I would just rather have an additinal separate gun

Trigger was just too long and spent too much time sitting in the safe.....had to let er go....

Sig p320 ....

Id look at the new SIG P320 line. :D
It is a lot like the older P250 models(they even share a few parts & magazines).
The P320 is striker fired not hammer fired but it's starting to get a lot of support from sworn LE officers & armed citizens.
I like the OD frame style Compact or the Carry P320 with SIG night sights.

Holsters and gear might be a slight problem but as more SIG Sauer P320s get sold, the holster/accessory firms will release new products.

I love mine for what it is:) Great little knock gun that is durable, reliable, and one I can leave loaded for my wife to use when i go out of town on business. no switches to fumble with but no easily touched off trigger. just 15r ounds of 9mm as fast as she can squeeze them off.

Mines the compact version. small enough to fit in the travel safe but big enough to shoot well.

Worth the $400

If you like DAO then the SIG P250 is a good choice. Before you buy you may want to try the P320 compact. It would be my choice.

Going to go against the crowd a bit. It has a smooth but at the same time horrible trigger. Excessively long and the reset seems to take forever. I find a lot of revolver shooters like it. It is not a bad gun for the price but if I was looking to get a A poly Sig I would look at the SP2022 and the P320.

All that said for the $350 price point you could do a lot worse.

I hate DAO...but I hear the Walther PPX has about the best DAO trigger out there, although it is kind of pre-cocked.

I think the PPX and 250 are hideous though.

I think the PPX and 250 are hideous though.

Once you have shot the PPX you will be forced to reconsider the definition of hideous. An amazing shooter, to say the least.

No. I wouldn't want you talking me out of a gun, and I'm not about to do it to you.

Buy it. Buy two. Buy ten. You can never have too many guns, too much ammo, too much bacon, or too much beer

Was on my list until I bought the Bersa BP9CC

I just couldn't find one to hold and try out to see of it fit me

Hope you get it! Look forward to hearing about it

The 250 has gotten a lot of bad reviews for the trigger alone and a DAO hammer design in a modern world of striker fired guns. The 320 is supposed to have cured those ailments with it having a striker design and a very good trigger. It's received uniformly great reviews.
Unless you are buying the gun for the replaceable frame design feature that's part of both the 250 and 320 technology, and assuming that the 320 is too costly, I'd go with an M&P VE model. They cost no more than your 250 and they are a virtually redesigned gun compared to the Sigmas. Much different and better trigger and fit and finish are better as well. The Smith VE's seem to be the best on the market for a name brand high quality striker pistol.

I'm with VAgunner: every P250 trigger I tried was extremely long and took forever to reset. Could not get comfortable with it. I also would recommend looking at the P2022 and the P320.

I owned a P250 for a couple years . Went through all the different size grip frames and some mods to them. It was a nice gun but I finally sold it and got a G26 and put a NY1 with - connector in it. Still have that more revolver like trigger but I am much more accurate with it. The 250 subcompact would be a great pocket gun with it's hammer fired long trigger but it was too blocky for that even.

Just purchased a P250C in .380.

Here are some observations:

The trigger is absolutely GREAT. Smooth as butter and consistently breaks in the same place. Best DA trigger I have ever used on any handgun.

The break down and reassembly is very easy except that the spring is hard to replace over the guide rod for reassembly.

I like the rail on the C model. Very utilitarian and I think it look good.

The guns shoots to the point of aim better than any semi auto I have ever owned. And, I love the 15 round capacity for a compact. The .380, of course, is fun to shoot. You can fire this pistol all day without ill effect.

The price is right. It is a great semi that can be had for slightly less/more than $400.

The P250C, and even the P250SC, are, in my opinion, NOT pocket guns. Just a tad too big.

Not that it matters, but I like the looks also.

Good luck in your decision.
