I have a lead on a TA90 that was a police trade in that comes with 200rd of Win white box ammo. I don't want to insult the guy with a low ball price, but after looking around $250 seams to be a fair offer. $200 for the gun and 50 for the ammo. Does this seam like a fair offer or am I looking to get punched in the eye?

Not sure as I have no Idea on the condition if it's a heavy used beater that's probably a fair offer if it's real nice that's a bit of a low ball offer but not enough that the guy should get insulted.
For reference I just bought a TA90 "Mossad" that's near new for $310 shipped

That "police trade in" and the Mossad model mentioned above probably came through the same pipeline... as doubt that any Tanfoglios were ever used by a police department in the U.S... (It's possible, but it would almost have to have been in a very small department where LEOs were allowed to use about anything they wanted.)

The Tanfoglios are similar to the small-frame Witnesses that were available new until just a few years ago from EAA -- about the only differences being where the safety lever was located on SOME models. (EAA has since gone to larger frames with all their CZ-pattern guns.) From $300 - $350, for a Witness or Tanfoglio in very good shape is not unusual; if it's a beater, I'd probably just wait for one that's nicer. More than that, and I'd pass.

I don't know how easy parts might be -- but I think that EAA can provide most things you'd need, as the Witness line is built by Tanfoglio.

The TA90 predates when EAA started importing the Witness, so don't expect them to provide any parts.

You can get a new similar pistol for near $300.

The ammo might be kept and the pistol sold for that price, if the seller has a need for the ammo. He can always turn the offer down.

A new SAR B6P is very similar and no more than $100 or so more money. It is built on similar patents in Turkey and is found in two sizes. All those CZ75 family pistols generally work well. Controls and function very similar.

He may take the money, may not. New is worth something in addition unless there is nostalgic value in a well known entity, like a pistol that you know has always worked and shot well that was owned by someone you know.
