Ok first off I'm not trying to be a tactical ninja :scrutiny:

I grew up shooting my Dad's 1911 service pistol, and carrying it in his old holster a tankers rig ( he was a pilot in WW2) and I freaking love that leather flat against my chest. It's been great for out in the truck off road, on quads etc.

I don't carry the 1911 anymore but I'd love to find another tankers rig this time for my Sigs. Just wondered if anyone knew of a holster maker who makes anything like that now. I'm not really interested in a shoulder holster.

Any ideas?

There's a million repos of the M7 chest holster available. Try Cheaper than Dirt for one.

Wet it, and if it doesn't disintigrate put your pistol in it (in a bag....duh) until it dries.

If you are willing to go non-leather.....check out the Eagle Tanker rig. I have used mine for many miles on boats, horses and bicycle and been happy with the comfort.

Pacific Canvas and Leather have the good stuff and work hard to make their products as authentic as possible at a good price AND they make their historic leather products in lefthanded versions as well as righthanded which to this southpaw is a BIG plus.

See Chindo's second link directly above.

See the M3 holster - a single strapped version of M7

I have a brand-new M7 repro I'll sell ya. When I bought it I didn't realize there was the M7 and M3, and the M3 was actually what I wanted. The M7 came from a local surplus store, can't recall the maker's name. $35 shipped.

I believe this is an M3. The M7 has an extra strap.

I have an M7 repro and I love it, I carry pistols better in this rig. I don't even own a 1911, but it carries both my Glock 23 and Glock 21 securely and out of the way.

I just hate these posts....

Clicked on a link and ended up ordering a holster for a gun I didn't know I'll be buying tomorrow.

New Tanker Holster

Hello all, As one of the previous posts stated the Guides Choice Chest Holster is a very good option. It is the most popular holster that we sell, about 10,000 and counting. The original post was for a tanker style holster. We have just started producing those. Both the Guides Choice Chest Holster and the Tanker Holster can be viewed at our new website: http://www.DiamondDCustomLeather.com

Hope this helps to bring another option to the table and by no means am I trying to steal this post, just thought I would throw out another option.
