Recently I bought a like new Charter Arms target Bulldog with a 4 inch barrel. Last week I got a chance to try a few rounds. At 15 yards it shoots about 8 inchs high with factory 246 grain Winchester ammo. Lighter grain bullets only fire higher. The rear sights are all the way down and the front sight has not been shortened. I am going to try reloading some hard cast 265 grain bullets. Any one know if 6.5 grains of unique would be a good load? If it kicks to bad I may have to find a small square file that is smooth on two sides so I could lower the inside of the rear sight. If you have any ideas let me know. :banghead:

If you like the Bulldog and intend to keep it find a good gunsmith that you trust and have a taller front sight installed.

I would be careful taking the hotter load route as the Target Bulldogs are not designed to handle a steady diet of +P and depending on age are not designed to handle +P at all -- First Generation Charter Arms revolvers were not --.

The Bulldog has a barrel shroud made out of aluminum I beleave. I wonder if it can be built up?
