Based on some great advice from the experts here I just ordered a cz 452 training rifle (.22, bolt action). I next want to buy a target scope for the rifle. My budget is up to $200, but would be happy to spend less. I primarily will be target shooting at up to 100 yards. As always advice is appreciated.

bushnell 4-12 got mounted cause it was handy. angling for a Leupold 2-7 or 3-9 ( around $200 on sale)
rear sight & scope clearance is real tight....had to remove it. mount is european cut...standard american rings are not a good fit. check out ebrooks for rings & trigger kit. a 2 cent washer will float the barrel . some don't like when you say it shoots as well as a kimber rifle.....but it ain't bragging when it is true. good luck.

american stock shaped different from european--might be the fit or the 'look'. non-standard rings dont cost more but they are gun specific such that if you ever sell/trade the cz you would include them in the deal.

I considered buying an American or even the silloette (sp) version. I did not want to give up irn sights. I figured I could always add a scope, not not iron sights. I went with the trainer with the beech stock because I did not want to worry about nicks and scratches on a nice walnut stock.

Will the Mueller on BKL257's clear the rear sight or do you need to remove it?
The CZ 452 American comes clean - no open sights. The Mueller APV 4.5-14x40 AO is a terrific way to go.

No, the pic is not reversed; that's a left handed CZ 452 American

I just ordered the CZ 452 American. After much research, I went with the Mueller APV on a set of Warne 7.3 Extra high rings from brownells.

I hope these rings work well, I have not received them or the rifle yet. I am worried because im unable to join rimfirecentral and preform any searches. Hopefully I made the right rings decision. I could not find any BKL 257's in stock. As far as the scope, all I hear is praise so I'm sure that was a good choice.

Fella's;

I've got a CZ452 LHB American also. It wears a Nikon Monarch 3.3-10X A/O mil-dot in Talley rings. I bought when scope when they were on close-out. Even so, it was above the stated budget range. But damn!! that's good glass.

Paradox, within your budget I'll suggest looking at the Bushnell Legend 5-15X A/O mil-dot. They are usually available from the usual suspects at around $170.00 - $180.00.

Here's my 452 trainer with a 2.5x scope that I use for Silhouette years ago... I think it is either 100m, or 100yds. It has been awhile since I shot in one. This is with a Beeman medium ring-set.

I since replace the 2.5x with a 4x20. Sorry, I don't have a picture of the new one.
