Hey Gents, Wondering any of you have been running into the same problem with the Taurus 1911. I've had a rash of broken extractors coming in. Their extractor is unique to the Taurus and I've had to machine the standard series 80 extractor to work properly. Reason is because the cutomer didn't want to wait a few weeks for factory repairs. I think they may of had a bad batch of extractors.

Taurus has long had quality control issues and their 1911 is probably not immune. You will likely hear from a bunch of folks who have had Taurus problems.

i replaced mine with a series 80 wilson, the firing pin plunger would not catch on it, i ended up not using the plunger.

Yep. Two customers wanted to keep the FP safety and the other went with the 70's series style and I chucked the plunger and put a spacer in place of the FP safety lever. All these failures happened the first time out to the range and generally on the second mag. I went to a shop that stocked the 1911's T's to take a look at the extractor. It seemed that there was very little to no clearance between the hook and the rim of the case and in one gun I even had to push the round up squeeze it between the hook and the breach. So much for QC and checking for fit.
