What is the going rate for a Taurus .44 SPL, 3 inch barrel, adjustable sights, polished stainless steel? They have it listed as a model 431, but I don't know if the 431 was made with adjustable sights... so it may be a mis-marked model 441.

What kind of experience has anyone had with this particular gun? I know that there are lots of complaints about Taurus, but I would like to know about this specific gun.

Thank you in advance!

Taurus quality is hit or miss. If you get a good one you're good, get a bad one and you'll regret it. I have a Taurus 445 which is pretty much like you're talking about. I was against it at first but owning a Charter Arms convinced me.

I've owned the 445 for about 6 years and it is a nice gun. The .44 Spl cartridges are hard to come by but other then that I can't complain. I bought the gun for concealed carry. If I lost it I wouldn't cry but would miss it.

I bought the 445 used and got to handle it first. I've never cared for the action on a Taurus but the one I got is fine. If I were buying another one I'd want to handle it first.

The 445 is also the first ported gun I've owned. Never cared much for porting till I got this gun. For a small gun in .44 Spl it does give you access to follow up shots.

My 441 is a fantastic revolver. I'm the third owner that I know of and I'm not letting it go. It shoots better than any of my S&W or Rugers and also better than all my Colts except the 3 Officers Models Match. I cast my own bullets and it does everything well. Only thing I would have wished different is that it not be stainless. I prefer blued steel over stainless, but I'm happy to make the exception for this Model 441.

This one is overpriced. You can do better if you are patient.

This one is at the top end of what I would pay, but it is like new and not made anymore.

431 = fixed sights

441 = Adjustable sights

They show up on AA & BG from time to time. 300 to 450 range. I'll pick up a 4 or 6 inch 441 someday.

For 3" I see no need for adjustable sights really, not for carry.

One hunting partner just bought a LNIB 3" 431 and after about 200 rounds is still running flawlessly. Paid $350 at a pawn shop

As is the stainless used 4" a 3rd hunting pard bought. They are shooting the crap out of them and loving every shot. He paid $290 at Cabelas in Buda....

I am sooo jealous.

I bought one a few years back from a pawn shop for the princely sum of 165 bucks OTD! It was the 5 shot 4in model and fit a K Frame Smith holster quite well. It was before I really got into casting and I sold it! DUMB DUMB DUMB!!!!!! It had a rough forcing cone that leaded pretty bad with commercial cast bullets. I could have probably had that remedied though. It was like new when I bought it too. Buddy I sold it to said he will never get rid of it......

Well, it must be a mis-marked 441 then. I saw it here locally so I will be able to check it out. I believe it is $279 before tax.

I absolutely love shooting 44SPL out of my S&W 29-2, but it has a 6.5in barrel so it's mostly a range gun... but that 3 inch barrel on the 441 would be sweet.

Got it back today...My buddy was gracious enough to let it go for $175..Exactly what he paid for it when I foolishly sold it to him........ 104_2407.jpg
