Gimmick, novelty gun. That's all it is. You will be bear food if you think this will save your hide! I own other Taurus guns, but I knew from the start this would not be one I would own. Buy a SBH or a SRH and be happy. Full tilt 44Mag/45Colt loads will keep you safe in bear country. I know a man who keeps a Judge in his car for self defense. He was sold when the guy at the gun shop told him "if you shoot someone with this their next driving test will be in Braille". Catchy little sales gimmick says I. I told him if I shoot someone with my pistol they will notify the next of kin...

Yes, they are a "Gimmick" gun but...

they are selling them and like MC Gunner and others have said, they are not rated for hot 45 LC loads. Give me a regular handgun that was meant to shoot the 45 LC with some authority like a Ruger Redhawk or blackhawk and I would not mind going into bear country.
