When I first got my Taurus 85, I bought a speedloader, but I found the factory rubber grips prevented me from using it. So I was forced to use speed strips.

I was wondering if anyone can recommend different grips that would allow the use of the speedloader.

Hogue grips for the 85 should work as
they are a bit smaller than the grips
from the factory.

But they might be too small depending
on your hands as they leave the back
strap open.

I have the factory grips on mine and don't have any issues using an HSK speed loader.

Laugh if you will, but being awkward with speed loaders in most guns, when I carry my Taurus 85 or my S&W model 10 , I just extra rds in a little plastic 35mm film container in my front pocket with a piece of tissue on top to keep 'em form rattling. Some of those containers will hold 5 rds, others 6. Just flick the top off and the shells drop into my hand. May not be high tech but it works for me:p

It will work if you only put the tips of the bullets into the cylinder, and then release them from the speedloader. If you push them in too far it will jam the whole thing up.

Okay, I just went and tried out a load of snap caps and a HKS speed loader. You can drop the speed loader into to place, but when you release the rounds, you can't just pull back because of the grip. Not really an issue though. Just pull to get past the grip. The rounds should fall out of the speed loader into the cylinder without issue.

If you are still having trouble and like them, you can remove the grips and take a dremmel with a sanding drum to them. Remove some material, test, sand, test, repeat until they work.

Safariland

I use a Safariland Comp II (I think thats the model) in both my SP 101 and Taurus M85, with no issues. Have the Pachameyer CCW grips on both, tho.
