I am considering trying to obtain one of these revolvers as a supplement to my Sig P226 and Sig P6. Does anyone have experience with a recent edition? I did a search and couldn't find any recent threads on the gun. I am fussy about triggers in particular. But if it is a decent trigger to start with and just needs a little tinkering I am good with that. Don't know about availability and may need to shop around but I am a patient person. My favorite LGS is a Taurus dealer so if it is available I can order it.

Any comments appreciated except for those whose mission in life is to bash Taurus.

I got one NiB a few months ago. It's fine. It's just the same small-frame revolver that they've been making since 1984 or so... the Model 85 in 38 caliber was my first example. I bought that one in 1990 or so.

I've owned 6-8 of their small-frame revolvers. The first 32 was a lemon. The newer 32, the 22, 357, 9mm, and 38's have all been good.

When I get one, I assume it will need a spring kit from Wolff, and am rarely disappointed.

This one has been to the range a few times. It's a good shooter, about like any decent snubby. The DA was too stiff at first, so I replaced the mainspring. Haven't done the trigger spring. The moonclips are easy to use, and it shoots fine without them.

I don't like the dark finish. That's my only complaint. It's good for practice and much cheaper to shoot than a 38.

Thanks for the review. I am inclined towards the stainless as well but it's not a real strong preference. I also can't decide between the 2 or 3 inch barrel. But the 3 inch only comes in the dark finish.

I've had one for a little over a year now and have 2,000+ rounds thru it with not one problem with it.

Picked this one up a week ago and had it to the range today. Typical accuracy at 7-10 yards. Recoil was not bad on my old hands. Don’t care for the stock grips but had these and since they are wider I think it spreads the recoil over more of the hand. Very pleased with this 9mm revolver.

Nice. I don't personally care for the look of the grips but they look like they would be good in hand. Where did you get them?

They were on a 32 magnum Taurus that I won on Gunbroker. Like you, they are not my favorite but the factory rubber grip is painful to me on anything other than a 22. These grips put most of the recoil into the palm of my hand, not the thumb joint. I think there are Pachmyer grips……

I have the 3" barrel and it is stellar. I recommend it.

I like the idea of the three inch barrel but after looking at that particular one I don't like the idea of no exposed hammer. I know I will need to practice a lot of double action with a snubbie but I want the option to cock it.

Please don't. Buy American instead.

Taurus transfer bars are notorious for breaking. I'm not sure if it's the metallurgy or lack of heat treatment but break they will. Taurus is aware of it but won't do anything to fix the problem. Lifetime warranty but how long do you wait before the broken transfer bar is replaced and the fyrearm returned to you?

Buy American, please.

I understand the buy American notion. But first of all Taurus does manufacturing in US now. I know they are foreign owned but other supposedly American guns are foreign owned as well these days. And I can't afford the Ruger or S&W equivalents. But I will keep your warning in mind as I consider this purchase.

I wasn't aware that their revolvers are made in America. That doesn't change the transfer bar breakage issue. How about used American made like S&W, Colt or Ruger? I'd trust my life to Charter Arms over Taurus.

To be truthful I had not heard of that issue but I will look into it. Do you possibly have references or a link to reports of such?

I just posted this accuracy comparison in another thread. Shot a little faster than once a second. IMG_7795.jpeg
Trigger is a little heavy but fairly smooth. Finish is a little rough compared to a SW. The moon clips are soft, so they are easy to use. I think they would not work to carry in your pocket. Maybe some after market clips would be better.

I appreciate all the comments. I also looked around for other threads both here and elsewhere. I came away with quite a variance of opinion on the gun. My LGS can get one for me but it would be a special order so it would be buy before you try rather than the other way around. I will have to search around and see if I can find one to handle. I searched around a good bit but didn't find anything on the transfer bar issue but I will continue to keep that in mind and look for reports of it. I am still interested in the 905 but I am not in a hurry. If a better option shows up I could change my mind.

No 905 here, haven't seen one around in a coon's age. Did get a S&W 986, no chance to put through paces yet. Stocking up on moon clips in the meantime...

I like the dark 905 look myself. Nice klatcher!
