I have been trying to find some reliable testing reports about the Taurus Spectrum, but to no avail.

Do any of you boys/girls have info about how it performs ?

Thanks.:)

No responses ?

My first clue was Taurus, "The Good, Bad, and The Ugly".

Next, "Spectrum" and the multitude of colors.
I'm not interested in a fashion statement.
I want one that works.

Finally, lack of info.

Hmmm.....Maybe I'll wait until it's been out for awhile ?

I've heard about it for a year now, yet I haven't seen it advertised at any online gun stores, let alone local gun stores. If you do a search on GB, all you get is holsters for it, not the gun itself. I'm wondering if the lawsuit is having an impact on the availability or the release of this model.

I like Taurus firearms - I have about a dozen and they work really well - but I wasn't crazy about the last Taurus .380 offering, the Curve. I tried one out at a gun event, and I guess it was OK, but I much preferred my Ruger LCP. For anyone wanting a small .380, I'd strongly suggest they go over to Bud's online store. They have brand new original series LCP's for $169! That's almost half of what I paid for mine a few years ago.

Yes, I think Taurus threw us "a curve" on that offering.
I like the Rugers, but I'm leaning toward a Remington RM380 since they do have the true DA "double strike" on a failed round.
I'm unaware of the lawsuit to which you refer.
Also, I did like the idea of the Spectrum being made in the good ole USA.

It was a class action suit that got a lot of press about a year ago. It pertained to many of their most popular semi-automatic pistols from the "Millenium" and "24/7" lines. There was a recurring safety issue where engaged safeties sometimes still left the gun hot, and not drop safe. A design flaw. My PT 145 was covered under the suit, but didn't exhibit the safety defect and was a good enough pistol that I declined to send it in...until other issues cropped up. (Of all the Tauruses I've owned, that gun and a PT 22 were the only ones I'd owned that were problematic as far as function.)

I've heard that the lawsuit might be having an adverse affect on other aspects of their business. For example, for a year or more now, many of the models listed on their website haven't been available through most of the dealers. That could be the issue with the Spectrum...or maybe not. Just speculation on my part. Could be they found a flaw, pre-production, and didn't want yet another lawsuit. :) The thing is, I'm not seeing the promotional stuff out there for Spectrum like I did 6 months ago. Not a big deal for me, as I don't see myself ever buying one, but it makes one wonder.

Academy Sports is selling them (see online - buy in store) for $ 229.99 in my area.
Do they actually have them in stock for real? Like, if you call them they'll tell you it's there right now to come look at? It happens quite often where gun shop websites will make it seem like a gun is available for sale even though it's not released yet.

I remember back when the MPX was announced and they advertised the version with the "muzzle brake" that doubled as silencer internals (the one that was nixed by the ATF and never made it to market), some online stores listed them for sale. More than once I had customers come into the LGS where I worked and act surprised when I told them the gun wasn't out yet. And that was over a year before the MPX came out, and the version that was originally advertised never actually came out at all.

The Spectrum looks intriguing, but I'll not be trying it, as I see no need for it to replace (or even join) the 2016-production TCP I got earlier this year.
