Coot: Are the 10-9s you mentioned something that can be ordered through a dealer? If not, how would one go about finding such a gun?

When I hear the term "Service Revolver" , a 4" skinny-barrel model 10 is what pops to mind first.

Lew Horton is national distributor, and often has unusual runs of S&W's made for them- your local dealer should be able to get one for you. The current production 10-9 is a real beauty (AND NO LOCK!!!).
