You all know the one I'm talking about, you have no intention of selling it but you hardly ever shoot it.

For me it's a Davis Derringer in .38 spl, my brother gave it to me and I haven't shot it in probably 6 or 7 years. Mainly because I like my hands!

I also have a Remington model 11 that I haven't shot in several years, it's just to hard to reach past my Beretta that I like so much.

I tend to swap hunting rifles up a good bit so they they don't get neglected so bad.

What about y'all, do you have one?
If so what is it, and when was the last time you shot it?
 
A single barrel ten gauge I inherited. It's beautiful and European. I just prefer follow up shots or the range of a rifle. I have some historical guns I'm scared would blow up.
 
Mosin Nagant M91/30.

The bolt sticks so bad I just about need a mallet to work the action, and the stock has more cosmoline than should be physically possible. It's simply baffling how much cosmo is inside the wood.

I think I last fired it in 2006? It was miserable to shoot. In the heat of the day, the grease liquefies and exudes from the rifle. All I remember is how two handfuls of stock grease makes the action about twice as hard to work and makes me not want to touch any of my other guns.

I think I payed $65 or so back in the day. I feel like I got ripped off. I'll probably get $65 worth of wallhanging out of it someday.
 
I have a 303 British Enfield. Haven't shot it since it was given to me 8 years ago by a good friend. I helped him install 2 new garage doors. He never did them and I used to do it when I was younger and in between jobs.
My mosin nagants- 91/30 and M38 sat for a few years. Took the M38 out a few months ago. Loved it. 91/30 is in the process of scoping and will get some range time soon.
 
I have a few of them. Some that come to mind include a Hi-Point C9 (purchased from a friend who wanted the $65 for some hi-dollar bottle of rum), two BP revolvers, one of which was purchased in 1984 or '85 with all intentions of shooting it, an old FIE 20 gauge single-shot, and an old Stevens M89 single-shot .22 "fake" lever rifle.

I have many others that I have never shot, or rarely shoot, but that's more for lack of opportunity than lack of desire. Those owned for more than a year but never shot include four Marlin rifles (2 Model 99M1 rifles, a Model 25, and a Glenfield 75), a Henry lever .22 rifle, Mosin-Nagant 91/30, a H&R Pardner Protector 12 gauge, and a S&W M&P15 Sport.
 
That would probably be an old Richland Arms Zabala 20 gauge SxS shotgun a friend of mine gave me. A decently made shotgun though somewhat lightweight and not possessing the greatest ergonomics; this shotgun can be downright nasty to shoot for any extended period of time. Also for a short barreled, upland game gun, both barrels are very tightly choked, patterning more like Improved Modified and Full rather than Improved Cylinder and Modified. Not my first choice, or second for that matter, when I need a 20 gauge shotgun.
 
Dad's early 80s 38spl. It is a good solid gun but there is no reason to shoot it and wear it out. It isn't worth much but I keep it because it was Dad's. I have a GP 100 to shoot. You can't wear that one out.

Other than that, I don't generally shoot my 2 mosins that much. They are the least accurate rifles I have and kick pretty hard. I keep them around because I got them for cheap and they will certainly sell for more than I paid for them if I ever get rid of them.

I have a Davis Derringer in 38spl. I'll tell you why we don't shoot it, because it's a piece of junk! I don't think it would make a good door stop.
Back on topic, I have a HK USP 45 Compact, that I never shoot. It's a fine pistol, there's no question about that, it's just that I don't like the DA/SA trigger. I keep it in my safe, cocked and locked all the time but, I just don't shoot it.
 
There's a bunch since I like accumulating them, especially semiauto handguns. But the one that won't get much shooting is a much neglected Remington 51 - not the R51, but a .380 model from around 1920.

It finish is only about 20%, the bore is badly frosted, & it is a true pain to field strip. But it is amazingly thin and shootable, and accurate even with the bad bore. I found it at a good price, mistakenly listed (not as a model 51), & I couldn't pass it up even in its condition. I'll shoot a magazine through it every few years.
 
I don't now why I haven't shot these few guns That I can think of more than I have, I geuss I get Caught up working on someone else's gun. This coming spring I'm gonna shoot'em I Don't care about value anymore. I have a S&W MODEL 27 WITH 24K GOLD INLAY all o:):)ver it in its original box, a COLT PYTHON AND ANACONDA in 41mags in their origanol boxes ALSO A OLD WALTHER PPK With Lots of silver etching on it in it's original boxing and also have a Uberti 1873 Cattleman that I bought a few years back and I still haven't shot it. I think that I been holding on too the Collective side of things. But I'm a shooter and although they are pretty these guns were made to be shot and life is to short to set around and look a. Sombodythem. When itshould probably up I'm gonna take these pistols out for some shooting one at a time. I now most of these guns have never been fired. To Me That Just Sounds Crazy Anymore. we got open carry here,I may start packin some flashy steel, maybe on both hips. Somebody whould probably hold me up and steal my guns while i was wearing them.lol

A 16 Ga. H&R single my Grandpa did a trigger job on that is scary light. It was his pheasant gun. I did take it out and test fire it then hunt with it once after I inherited it. I do have a No.4MkI I am supposed to be restoring for someone, but he's off in the Air Force, career officer, so I have time. And a .22 auto of my son's best friend I need to reassemble after they took it apart....:confused:
 
I was gonna reply, "I can't believe you guys have guns you've never shot!" Then I remembered the one I have that I've never shot, a Savage 110 in 270 that I acquired a few months back. I still need some 270 ammo and a decent scope.

I definitely understand not shooting historical and high value guns.
 
The premise of this thread does not apply universally. I'm a collector. I don't buy guns in order to shoot them, although all my guns are in shootable condition. Most of my guns I have never shot, nor do I intend to. Shooting, per se, is not the purpose of this game for me.
 
I hate to admit it but the majority of the firearms I own are not shot ever. Most are safe queens and collector stuff. I have about a dozen guns that get shot. Most are 22 rifles along with my carry and plinking guns.

Would you shoot a $3000 gun when you have $500 guns that shoot just as well?

Miroku Winchester Model 63. The gun back in the other corner is a Remington 1100 LT-20 Special. Keepers, both, but my attention these days is being given to pistol-caliber lever carbines, six shooters and the odd .44 Special S&W.

I've been buying and selling guns my whole life. I used to think the collectors way but now I enjoy them. It's like this I have a 1967 Chevell SS 396 all original, matching numbers and low miles. And my wife has a 2016 Corvette. Yes they are expensive but does that mean I should put them inside my shop just for myself to look at or do what they do. Drive Them and Enjoy
 
If I can find ammo for it, it gets shot. I can shoot where I live and sometimes Ill just hang something out the back door an blast away. Never used to shoot my Russian Nagant revolver much until I discovered that 32 S&W Long shoots wonderfully, and plenty of it at GM in Peoria. Just expensive.
 
Having said that...... The picture over my name will never be fired again. It will go to my son and he can do whatever he wants with it.

This is becoming a much more prominent goal of mine as I approach retirement... still have a few years left to go. tark, I envy you!

You must mean the .22lr Colt handguns and a Winchester rifle, haven't shot them in a few years. I have ammo just no passion for the .22lr
 
Its the one in my avatar, a Remington 514 .22 single shot. I got it for Christmas 67 years ago. I had it bead blasted and re-blued a few years ago. The pic was shopped by my Grandson inspired by the Mel McDaniel song Louisiana Saturday Night lyric "A single shot rifle and a one eyed dog"
