Hey Y'all

Here's a link to an article about a new single stack 9/40. Looks like Bersa is throwing their hat into that ring too. I was racking my brain between a k/mk 9, pps, or taurus 709, but I think I'll wait until this comes out and have a look. I'm pretty skinny and my wife dresses me in tighter clothes, so single stack is the only option for me. Right now I'm carrying an LCP after I sold my Kahr P9 (Nothing wrong with it, just couldn't trust myself to not accedentally eject the mag while firing; it has a bit of a weak mag catch). It looks like the mag release is ambidextrous and XD style, which is great for a lefty like me. It looks to be almost exactly the same size as a Kahr P/CW 9

I'm not personally familiar with Bersa, but it sounds like they have a less than pretty finish and excellent reliability. It's going to be about $350-$400, looks like.

Thoughts? Fire away :fire:

That's the first I've seen it. It looks like a pretty nice little piece. I've never fired a Bersa pistol, but have heard pretty positive things about them. I'd imagine they'll sell a lot of 'em. I like it.

Bersa's....good guns!

I have 2 Bersa's...a "Thunder .380", and a ".45 Ultra Compact Pro".....
Can't say how the new model will be, but Bersa's are excellent values. :p

But---I don't like being the first kid on the block with a new model(in anything---cars, airplanes, guns, etc)
Otherwise, I believe Bersa's are very fine, you won't go wrong with one.

I have been waiting to see the new Bersa as well. Bersas are well made pistols and their price makes them especially attractive. My Thunder 9s have been banging away for a number of years and thousands of rounds without a hitch.

I was on the phone tonight with the importer. He said will be a couple months All new pistols imported. Must be checked out and given approved by the BATFE he said that could be a mo or 2 just depends on how fast they do their thing Then would be time from factory to states and out to dist. Look for late spring Their coming Can't say what their going to cost I didn't ask sorry.

We try to keep information on all the Bersa's and American Classic posted at

This has been rumored for quite a wqhilw now. Hopefully it will show up soon. Looks like another nice option for concealed carry. Polymer, single stack and should be reasonably priced. If it is as reliable as my Firestorm mini 9mm then it will be the next pistol in my gun safe.

seems neat... could be very attractive if priced right.

magazine disconnect safety ftmfl though. i hate that about my thunder 380.

It amazes me that after losing popularity for most of 20th Century (1911 not withstanding), single-stack guns are making a comeback.

.

Wow, so many new things I want for 2010, I have to cut them down to only two though :( and this may be one :)

Makarov ammo is 9x18. 9x17 is 380. 9x19 is 9mm luger ;)

Sorry you had such problems with your bersa thunder. Mine has been flawless.

they're easy to conceal. i'd never bother with one for HD, when i have a xd that holds 14 rounds of .45 :D

Bersa Thunder 380, fine gun, fixed barrel very accurate.

Its a little rough in the action, but smoothes up really good after about 100 rounds.
Real good single action trigger, Double action trigger good for type of gun it is.

I would not own another Bersa for all the Tea in China. I bought a Thunder .380 about 6 weeks ago and it has been a nightmare experiance. The gun has just fell apart. Magazine problems, the safety level fell off, Jamomatic and totally unrelilable.

I got so disgusted that the dealer offered me a Polish Surplus P64 as an exchange and I jumped at it. What a surprise I got. It is all steel and shoots Makarov 9x17 ammo that is more powerful and more plentyful around these parts and it it dead on accurate. It is the same size as my Walthers and fits in all the leather I have for it. This gun is really made the old fashion way and a great shooter. It has a chrome bore barrell and has never missed a beat.

You simply got an unfortunate lemon

You should have had that gun replaced with another Thunder.

I have a Bersa 380 duo that has been nothing but reliable.

The new poly 9 is coming later in the year from what I have read. Since it has a different trigger and has different ergonomics than the metal bersa's I would wait till it's been out a while before buying one .

Somewhat OT but, I too have one of those lemon bersa thunder .380s.

I won't paint all thunders with the same brush, since the evidence appears to be that most are very happy with their bersas, but mine is a bit of a jamamatic and is probably going to be heading in for its second trip to the warranty center when I get a spare minute to get it boxed up again.

I'm probably about done with bersa regardless of how good that new one looks (and I've been following it on bersatalk, it's a handsome piece).

I'll keep my old 383 though... that one actually works.

I had a thunder .380 CC that was great. Accurate, reliable, easy to conceal, good trigger. Never should have sold it.

About a year and a half ago I bought a plain Thunder .380 from Cabelas. Got it home to clean it and found something odd in the chamber. A crack.

From the looks of it, somebody put a centimeter long cut in the chamber and tried to polish over it. Either that or it was a casting flaw, not sure if the barrels are cast.

I brought it right back, and Cabelas gave me a refund.
