Boomer here, and I hope a gracious one. No animus toward Creedmoors or anyone who shoots them. The only reason I don't own one is that I'm already invested in other 6 and 6.5 cartridges. I'll happily recommend the 6.5 Creedmoor as a great do-it-all cartridge for a new shooter; have done so repeatedly. Most recently encouraged a friend interested in an AR10 to consider one in 6.5 Creedmoor rather than a .308 Win; I just showed him the ballistics. I abandoned the .30-06 years ago in favor of the .308, and then replaced the .308 with a 7mm-08 ... before the 6.5 Creedmoor was introduced.
But this old dog can learn new tricks. Newest cartridges in my stable include 6GT, 6mm ARC, 6.5 Grendel, and 6.5 PRC. Not one .30 cal in the safe. And I anticipate that when I shoot the barrel out of my .260 Ackley, I may rebarrel it in 6.5 Creedmoor.
