After building a bunch of classic style rifles I was wanting to build something I could take out in the rain or snow without worry. I traded for a M1917 Enfield in 30-06 that started life built in the US, shipped to Britain, put into government storage, sold to BSA (Birmingham Small Arms) in late 40's, reproofed (Has British Nitro proofs), restocked and sold as a hunting rifle primarily to Canada. Bore is pristine, 5 groove left hand twist. I added a Talley barrel band swivel, NOS redfield banded front sight, steel adjustable Marbles rear sight, steel WARNE bases and QD rings with a Zeiss 3-9 Terra. Trigger is a Timney, bottom metal engraved and I reshaped the trigger bow to a slightly more commercial look. Stock is by Boyds, hand checkered and I also removed some weight by removing some material behind the recoil pad. Metal is coated in Cerakote Tungsten. It was amazing to me that a WWI era rifle had a bolt handle and safety that required zero modification to work with a med ringed scope.

That is absolutely BEAUTIFUL! The 1917 is my favorite military action, and the execution of that build is stunning... I may have to rethink what my next project is gonna be and find a 1917 action. Now to wipe the drool off my phone.....

Another incredible custom build! You sir are a true craftsman and artisan of custom rifle building!

That's very nice the ceremony makes it look like my beaded stainless ruger gsr. It's awesome seeing someone take an old milsurp and make it functional to the persons needs.

Any detail pics of how you worked the trigger bow? What was the process?

Excellent work! I especially like the thinned trigger bow, and choice of colors. I usually find 1917s chubby looking but the gray metal on laminate gray stock and flow make that gun look more graceful than the others I've seen. Very nice scope choice as well!

Amazing what a guy can do thats not even a "professional" gunsmith. This guy makes lots of awesome looking rifles.

I like the looks of the 1917 a lot and I have decided that it will be my first 30-06 unless I run across an IH garand reasonably priced. Your eddystone is a beauty, and the stock really sets it off. Good job.

An exercise in excellence! ... That thing is sweet; all the adjectives that pop into my head are things like; ... "tastefully done", "elegant", "well balanced", aesthetically pleasing", etc. etc..... I could go on but that sums it up nicely. I'm also a fan of Warne rings but I've never had a set of the Q.D. ones. I've always been a bit leery about Q.D. rings but if those Warnes are decent I'd be willing to try a set. Any experience with them?

COWABUNGA DUDE !! That is one fine looking job. I don't even like guns that aren't blued and have traditional stocks, but your gun makes me drool. It just looks.....right!

Really nice. Someone did a very nice job reprofiling the receiver. Looks great. As an all weather rifle, the Enfield action should be great. It has a 2 degree camming action on closing and the firing pin fall is 0.700” which should allow it to work even in freezing rain/snow, whatever. I probably would have straightened the bolt handle, but yours looks great anyway.
