Don't react to quickly, I guess...
Hi there CZers,
I got a CZ-85 before the bad Clinton vibe came down. So, it is not "Made in the Czech Republic"; it says "Czechoslovakia" on it. Also, it came with a nasty stamp through it's sturdy finish stating that somebody in Vermont imported it. The stamp does not only mess with the gun's finish, but is also cockeyed, crooked. And the frame is uneven on each side. I cold blued the Vermont stamp to make it less obvious. It has the "old style" sights which means that upgrading them is frustrating (I'm old and little tiny dark sights don't work for me).
Functionally, it is a performer. Despite the QA discrepancies, I love the gun. I works!
Can someone tell me why my 85 is so different from the more recent offerings.
I put Pachmayer grips on it (which I love, but they didn't knock themselves out trying to make the fit perfectly). I hate those Hoque finger groove abortions.
I suspect that when I had an erection for a CZ-75 or 85, the Czechs were reloading after having been under the Soviet yoke for 40 or 50 years. So, anyone got any background info on CZ in the late 80s or early 90s explaining my particular piece.
If you've got any ideas, I will get out my digicam and shoot you a picture.
I love the CZ, as I loved the FN HiPower. They are still my favorites. Most more recent offerings seem clunky, fat, and weird in functioning i.e. Glock, etc.
Wishing for feedback,
AAW
