The first gun you ever shot

It was a single shot, bolt action .22 followed by a shotgun (don't remember gauge) later that day. I was 11 or 12 at conservation camp. I wonder if summer camps still have shooting and archery. I received my hunter safety card there too.

Iver Johnson 20ga SxS at age 14, way to much gun to start with for me, took me 4 years to get back behind that gun and not be afraid of it

The first gun I ever fired was a Colt Model 1908 Pocket Hammerless in .380 ACP. I was perhaps 10 years old at the time.

I've always felt a special affection for the Pocket Hammerless for that reason, though I don't currently own one.

When I was a kid my father enrolled me in a PAL riflery course, where we used bolt action .22 rifles. Some were single shot and some had mags, but we used all as single shot; the officer who was the instructor passed us one round at a time per student per volley.
This was maybe 1965? And I don't recall what models of rifle were used.

Was probably 5 or less. H&R top-break .22 snubbie with help from dad. Next was some kind of bolt action .22. Shot several guns there after, but 1st gun of my own was a nylon Remmy when I was about 9 y/o.

first gun was a older crossman pump air rifle my grandpa had and taught me to shoot with when i was about 6-7. then after snipping cans at 20 yards, when i turned 12 he let me shoot his .357 S&W snubbie (with .38's in it)

that is the soon to be carry peice that was his BUG when he was a police officer/detictive

Colt Peacemaker .22. Not sure how old - probably 4 or 5. My Dad had to help me hold the gun up and aim. Used to shoot it at pyramids of coke cans, and those cans falling over was the coolest thing I had ever seen.

I was four. It was my dad's .22 rifle that he still owns and shoots. It's a hammerless lever action with a tube magazine. IIRC, it's stamped Western Field or one of the other old department store house brands. Don't know who might have actually manufactured it. The target was an empty Koehler's beer can. I remember my elation when I hit it. Dad was very pleased too.
Now both department store-marked guns and Koehler's beer are things of the past. I'm twice as old today as my dad was on that day.

Sawed-off(8") single barrel 12 gauge shotgun. The stock had also been sawed-off and wrapped in electrical tape. The shotgun was so old it didn't have a serial number. I was 23. It went off like a howitzer.

The day after my 18th birthday I packed up some of my dad's guns and went to the range by myself. He was out of the country for a few months at that time.

I shot a Mac11, Sig p220 and Uzi carbine that day.

I was five when I shot a .22 rifle. The stock was a 2x4 special, bent barrel, no front sight, pitted barrel, a real winner. I cannot for the life of me identify it, perhaps you guys know it. It's a .22 lever action but the unique part was the magazine. It was a large tube under the barrel. To load it, unscrew the cap, pull back the spring and follower, and pour in the ammo. The action orients the rounds before loading them. Just pour, I think it took about 40 50 rounds at a time.

My dad's Winchester autoloader .22, shooting at a plastic bottle on a hillside near Corbin, Kentucky at my cousins house. I would've been about 10 I believe.

The first real gun that I shot was a 12 ga Mossberg 500. I was 33. I'm now 34. I've shot many BB guns since youth.

My dad is anti-gun. That explains my lack of gun exposure until late in life. The rest of my family has been coming around ever since I became quite involved with all types of guns. I recently took my mom to the range where she shot her first real gun, a Ruger handgun .22lr. She's 62.

It was a Remington model 511 Scoremaster that belonged to my Uncle.
It was very frustrareing as my father went to borrow it and my uncle had loaned it out to another Uncle who wasn't home that day. No big deal but as a 8 yo who thought he was going to shoot that day it was a tragety. Several weeks later we laid hands on it (finally) and the only ammo with it was a box of rat shot!
I can't tell you haw happy I was several weeks later when we finally got to shoot it!
Oh yeah, about 10 years back my Uncle gave it to me before he passed away so I have it to this day . Just a bolt action, clip fead, not so fancy, not so great condition, run of the mill 22 but it means a lot to me.

The first one I remember shooting is a .22 single shot at my wife's grandmother's. I was twenty something (I'm trying to remember if we had a kid or not at the time). Thought it was pretty cool. The rest is history.

My first shot was at a target during an Optimist Club turkey shoot, with my Dad's .22 boltgun. I don't remember the model or anything, and I think I was about 11 years old.
I won the round, beating Dad handily... and never got to shoot again until I bought my own, years later.
