anyone using one?

I am reading a book by an Appleseed instructor, fondling my Appleseed trainer rifles, looking at my hunting rifles. So I am deep in thought on these items already. Then I read about a bear hunt in my American Hunter issue written by Richard Mann where he discusses looping up his sling several times and i find he is using the “RifleMann” sling he helped design.

Has anyone used one? Is the shooting loop used in the same manner as a GI Sling, basically making it a 2 point Ching Sling? Is it effective for Appleseed style shooting and use in the field?

Thanks for any input!

I have the traditional cotton web GI Sling and also a VTAC Padded with a detachable shooting cuff.

Anyone using this sling?

The amazon reviews look great. I might pick one up and report back.

I'm baffled - the picture on the galco website has the loop on the trigger side. Seems wrong to me...

I'd suggest a Rhodesian type sling - either a Riflecraft RS1 in nylon or an Andy's Leather one. They're super fast, and offer pretty much the same stability as a GI sling.

I think the riflemann basically is a Rhodesian Sling.

Strong side (trigger side) hold is known as “sniper sling” and sometimes used in certain shooting positions. It is not meant to be as stable as support arm sling and it is only one way to use this type of sling.

From the creator:

For all my life I’ve struggled with finding a strap to securely and comfortably carry a rifle, and also serve as a shooting aid. I’ve tried almost everything sling the market. For shooting, the Galco Safari Ching Sling and the Rhodesian Sling from Andy’s Leather are probably the best. For carry, the Vero Vellini slings work very well.

Finally, I gave up and made my own by melding these two concepts together. I used this prototype sling for about a year, hunting and shooting all over the United States and in Africa. It worked but I realized it could be better. While at Gunsite Academy I showed it to Mike Barham of Galco Gunleather. Barham thought it might be something Galco would want to make and sale. He took my prototype and soon sent me a more refined version. When I tested and blessed it, Galco asked what I wanted for the design. I said free rifle slings…After all, that’s what it was all about; something to help me carry and shoot my rifles better.

Maybe I should have asked for a $ 1.00 every time they sold one!

i'm using the armageddon gear sling. i like it a lot. i've retired my 1907 leather and synthetics when i hung up my HP coat, and my quick cuff
