Why cant you use that display? Dont you just need to have trigger locks on them?
Sorry Im not familiar with your laws as far as firearm storage goes. How about HD firearms? Their stored loaded, unlocked and ready to go are they not?
First of all, there are safe storage laws in California.
HOWEVER, these laws in California only cover guns that "can be concealed upon the person", or handguns, or
loaded firearms in general.
Second, they only have any effect IF the gun is misused by a minor who didn't gain access via illegal entry, and this causes death or injury.
Third, it doesn't apply if you are present and have the gun in your possession or in a place where you can readily retrieve it.
See 12035 and 12036:

So, you can leave unloaded long guns wherever you want. You can keep loaded handguns in a locked home whenever, if there are no children in the house, and no children would legally have access to the house if you're not home. You can keep loaded handguns around the house, if you are home, with children there. They don't have to be secured.
Furthermore, as long as nobody actually gets the gun and uses it, you can't be prosecuted for anything.
Bottom line? While I don't like government micromanagement of my life, I don't think the law dictates anything that I wouldn't do anyway. I have no desire to come home to a burglar facing me with my own gun in his hand. I have no desire for any child to get hurt because I was too cheap or lazy to have a pistol safe.
The gun cabinet in the picture would be perfectly legal in Campbell, California, at any time, in any place.
The difference is cultural, not legal.
