The good old days

Nice setup ez45! My grandparents lived on a farm and they hung up ther rifles on the wall just inside the back door.

The winchester is the in the classic .30-30 and it's a black bear pelt. And, yes if I wanted to keep my guns on display I would and could do it. I just don't want everyone knowing I keep guns in the house where they could be easily stolen. Speaking with my insurance agent, he says gthe number one thing his clients make claims for are stolen guns.

I would, however, like them to think that I might have a gun somewhere in the house, such that they could be easily shot.

There's a pocket of Obamatons near the university here in Boise. It's funny, but there's a liberal neighborhood. Lately, it's apparently been actively cased by burglars.

On this end of town, kids can leave their bikes on the front lawn and nobody seems to give them a second look. I think it's because any burglar with a room-temp IQ assumes that most people around here are armed, and can shoot.

Nice cabinet.

When I was much younger (in the 60's), a friend's dad had a cabinet kind of like that, with around 15 rifles and shotguns stored vertically. I can't remember all the different types, but I do remember a beautiful Winchester Model 70...

It wasn't locked.

The ammo was stored in drawers under the racked guns, and there were only two house rules (as explained by my friend) -

1. Yes, you can take them out and look at them. However, you have to wipe all fingerprints off with this here oily rag before putting them back. Oh yeah, and don't dry fire the double shotgun or you'll break its firing pins.

2. No, you can't load them.

:)

i know, my aunt offered me my late uncles wood and glass gun cabinete. it is a beautiful cabinete. but i am already paraniod enough about my guns being in a safe. i would go crazy with them in one of those. i would never be able to leave the house. a different uncle (also passed awy) had three cabinetes like that. the theives broke in, took a crowbar to each of the cabinetes and stole all of his guns. after the third time. he made a closet in his bedroom that was hidden, and only bought back about 1/3rd of his guns. every time he was broken into, it took some of his "spark" away. after the third time. he just didnt really seem the same. he died about 4 years later.

That really looks nice. I wish I could do the same. However, those days are long gone.:(

I hate the feeling of having to lock down and secure everything all the time.
