The Gun Is The Cheap Part!?!?

I remember a seller in Tucson during the AWB who did the same thing, removed any and ALL extra mags from every firearms he sold new, then offered the magazines at a huge markup. IIRC, he was not in business long.
I had to learn to reload and cast to stay in the shooting game almost 20 years ago, with a child and a wife who refused to work. Now I do it because I enjoy reloading and bullet casting. Heck, during the 2008 ammo scare I was the only one at the range!

My dad bought a new Ruger 10/22 way back when, serial # is only five digits. He let me have it for a project gun even though it was in near mint condition.

After about $1000 that gun will put three shots on target at 100 yards that can be covered with a dime and not seen. That's using just about any 22lr ammo, and the good stuff will sometimes put them in the same hole.

I think he spent about $65 on that rifle.

I have said that the firearm is the cheapest part of purchasing a new gun in the past. I was thinking about a recent purchase to see if I'm right?

New Glock 20 gen5 not the cheapest 10mm or the most expensive.

G20 with tax and background check
$700
400 rounds of target ammo
$320
100 rounds of defense/hunting
$100
Decided to try a red dot
$200
OWB holster (yet to buy)
$40-80
Chest holster (yet to buy )
$100-150
I collected many of my guns in the 70's, 80's. and 90', and did "overpay" for some of them. When I would later see the exact same gun, I had just bought a few bucks cheaper at a gun store or gun show, I would get really irritated and fret about it. But over the years the cost you paid for a gun becomes insignificant in the scheme of things.
$1500 for a $700 pistol

Yeah, I go through my “totes of shame” and see what holsters, mags, sights, and nick nacks I have for some pistols to help me make a decision on what is going to be the next great wonder. LOL

I would agree!

Holster or holsters

After market grips (maybe?)
After market sights (maybe)
After market trigger (maybe)
ammo
reloading dies ( if its a new caliber to you)
Bullet Mold & sizing dies ( if its a new caliber to you)

The list can be endless!
