The guns of . . . the Beverly Hillbillies?

I do remember that Ellie Mae's jeans weren't near as snug as Daisy Duke's. Not much more than that...memory is going...going...it went that-a-way...

With all these references to Ellie Mae, I just recalled that a couple of years ago I did some research on the show. Ellie Mae was supposed to be 12 or so in the first episode. Donna Douglas was in her 20's when the pilot was filmed. Figure how long the show ran and how long Ellie Mae was a teenager.

1) I've seen the Dukes lately too and the jeans were from two different times. Ellie Mae's were from the 60's. Daisy Dukes were from 1979-85. There was a difference.

2)Daisy Duke's shorts were part of her work clothes at the Boar's Nest. Her jeans (full length) were probably Jordache or straight leg Levis or something. Ellie Mae didn't work a job like that, so there.

I remember the slingshots she had, too.

And with this, we've gone totally off topic.

Now, was that old cap&ball revolver a real Colt's or was it one of those Dance pistols the South made during the War of Northern Aggression? Remember, Granny considered herself still Confederate and her life savings was in Confederate money.

Ellie May: Paganism/Innocence and Sex

Biker, please post photo of your new slingshot. :D

I recall Granny having different shotguns. Hammers /no hammers on double barrel and did she not have a single shot as well?

Ellie Mae, I thought she had a revolver in one episode. Just a small one she put in a purse when she wore a dress for some reason...???

While I do not remember off hand, but they do have their guns as well as the car at the Collage of the Ozarks in the Ralph Foster Museum. http://www.rfostermuseum.com/

However I do believe that WolfMansDad is right.

Jed: Muzzle-loading rifle, not always the same one, sometimes flintlock, sometimes caplock, sometimes trapdoor (It's a prop, people!)
Granny: Outhammer double-barreled shotgun and - I swear I saw this once - a Walker .44 cap-and-ball revolver
Jethro: Henry lever-action, Colt Single-Action Army (or copy)
Ellie May: Slingshot

I remember that horse pistol Granny put in Ellie Mae's picnic basket that time. That said, for the place they were from... Tennessee... and the time frame Granny and Jed were born in, a pocket revolver wouldn't have been uncommon. The old country stores sold some low-priced "Owlhead" pistols that would've done for that.

if i'm not mistaken, elly may (donna douglas) did a stint studying at rhema bible college in broken arrow, ok, in the 80's. she was no doubt honing her skills in the musical ministry as a gospel singer.

I hadn't heard about that, but I did read somewhere that the guy who played Eb on "Green Acres" became a preacher.

GoodGawdamighty! Always did like side-by-sides! That woman could make me curtail my beer consumption to 12 a day.
