The Lyman Long Range Precision Rifle Reloading Handbook is Available

I was looking on the Midway USA site and noticed the Lyman "Long Range Precision Rifle" Reloading Handbook is now marked Available. It's in stock in the Midsouth Shooters site too and probably others.

I just ordered mine, I can't help myself. I'm a load manual whore lol. Both sites have it for under $12, well below the $16.98 Retail price so it's not a big price tag.

The freight would be the same if you bought two of even three books. Most online stores have prohibitive shipping costs on inexpensive items. I bought several items and a free shipping item and saved on the shipping costs.

I'd be interested in a book on precision reloading, but I'm not really interested in the target bullets mentioned in that review.

Update, I got the manual and did a quick read. It has data for all the cartridges use for long range precision shooting. The data includes many that aren't in the Lyman 50th Edition manual and the data has been reshot for few that are like the .223, .243, .308 and 300 Win Mag. They supply data for cartridges like the 6mm and 6.5mm Creedmoor and the 6.5x47mm Lapua. There are as many as 17 powders listed and the bullets used are very accurate match and long range hunting bullets. They use a lot of Lapua and Norma brass along with some Hornady and Remington brass too.

They skip the basic how to load information but spend a lot of time on how to build accurate ammo. There are also 50+ pages of trajectory charts.

All and all, IMO this is a good resource if you want to improve your long range precision shooting skills.

I just got mine, and I have the same impression. I was glad to get it.

I also got the new Western reloading manual, and felt it was a bit brief on the tutorial section, and heavily slanted towards rifle instead of pistol (even though pistol is much easier than rifle). I'm still looking over the load data, but you will find much more load data on their website than is in this book.

As for the shipping cost at Midway, they frequently have a "free shipping for $99 orders" special. I usually have a couple items already in my shopping cart just for this occasion.
