The one pistol that you regret not buying!

There are alot of pistols I wish I'd grabbed that were gone when I went back.

A couple of them:

Excam GT380 LNIB with paperwork for $150.

H&R 732 in 98% condition for $120.

CZ75 pre "B" model for $350.

I always regretted never buying a semi-custom 1911.
So this year I finally got off the pot and bought a Les Baer TRS.
I love this pistol.

It was about 1989 I think. County auction and there was a blued Colt Python there. Not pristine but I'd say about 85-90%. Auctioneer worked and worked to get the $275 it sold for.... Didn't have to cash on me and when I called my dad he said... well I won't repeat what he said .. but I would have had the money had I asked...

There was also a '03 Springfield at a gun show one time guy was walking around with, went for $180 in great shape. Seen it and figured I would ask later.... bad move...

Remmington 700 sps tactical .308 for $440. Came back the next day and it was marked at $675.

Passed on it and ended up finding the ACOG TA31F I wanted at half of retail that night, so I'm not too upset.

Ruger Old Army, SS, 7.5" w/ adjustable sights, just felt right in my hand and I was mightily tempted. Went back & forth between that & a 5.5" SS Bisley Vaquaro in .45LC and went with the Vaquaro. It was a very good gun, but I never grew to like it & it was gone in a year or so. That OA is the only gun I've ever regreted not buying.

Just yesterday, my local Armslist ( Columbus,Ga) had a guy selling several very nice, clean pieces for an aging freind. Everytime I'd e-mail the guy, I'd just missed out. IIRC,included were :
-70 series Colt 45 Government $600.
-Colt Gold Cup $650
-S&W model 28 6" $350
-Ruger Single Six .22/22mag stainless $225
-Colt python $750
-Gen 3 Glock 17 ( box, paperwork, 3 mags) $300

And I missed out ON EVERYTHING !!!! :cuss:

Back in the 60s, you could buy guns mail order. The famous Kleins in Chicago used to run ads in all the gun magazines. S&W or Colt US MILITARY 1917 revolvers were $27 dollars. Broom handle mousers were $35 and Springfield 03a3s ran about $25. Webley 45s were $17 and I bought my first M1 Carbine through the DCM for $17. My Dad bought a NM 1911 for $87. Those were the days, but then gas was only .17 gal, (premium) and minimum wage was 1.25.

I have one that I got before it was too late: a S&W M&P 15-22 Pistol.

I had it on my list of wants last year, then I found out it was no longer being manufactured. I went to the gun store the next day and bought it. As I was walking out I said "BTW, these have been discontinued."

They sold their other two within a month, and you can't find them new anymore. It is really fun (though sort of useless). I've taken it shooting a few times, and for some of my friends it has been their favorite firearm.

That third surplus M1911 circa 1965. I foolishly thought two was plenty.

Ruger Single Six Bisley blues with brass trigger guard and grip. Saw it at a flea market a few months back for $350

Obama-scare 2009, I was at a gun show looking for black rifles. Guy had a nice blue Colt Python for $600 or so, and I passed on it... I'm an idiot. Worth probably twice that.

Kimber custom brand new for $350 at a gun show. It was about '96 and I thought the dealer was feeding me a line of bull about how good they were.

Nearly brand new, low round count Stainless Ruger Single Six, for $270. Really wish I had jumped on that rather than procrastinating as I usually do.

NIB Colt Pythons at the gunshow for 450, S&W Pintos around 300, East German Maks for 200, most any quality piece for the price they were going for in the late 70's, early 80's.

About 6 months back a guy was walking around a local gun show. He had a Colt Delta Elite in 10mm, box and all the paperwork. He was asking 800$. I passed thinking "Eh, I already have a G29 and I don't like 1911's much..."

Then I came home and looked them up... :uhoh:
