***The Rifleman, old TV show

The cows, of course, would be expected to punch the cowboys but it's so hard to get a cow to make a fist that it would take forever to shoot those scenes.

That one made me snort on my keyboard! :D

Something i forgot to mention....

Don't try that "twirl the rifle to eject the last case" trick that 'Lucas McCain' does at the end of the opening with a full-size Marlin 336....You WILL smack yourself in the face with it.....

Never mind HOW I know...i just know. :D

A mechanically-inclined brother in law of mine from my first marriage gimmicked a lever action .22 with a Rifleman-style screw. The gun was, I think, an Ithaca. It was a fun to do the hip-shooting rapid fire a few times. In the long run, though, it was like bump-firing an AK or AR...basically a great way to burn through a lot of ammo without actually hitting much.
The Rifleman was a good show, but I alway preferred Have Gun, Will Travel.

Those were the days of the good shows when the parents taught the kids the truth so we knew when someone was dead and when it was make believe. There was the Rifleman, Cheyene, Bronco Lane, Sugarfoot, Lawman, Have Gun Will Travel, Yancy Darringer, Gunsmoke, Bananza, not to mention Roy, Gene and all the boys.

About 59 or 60 there was a zinc single action army type revolver that not only functioned but took a cartridge that launched a plastic bullet by spring power. Never seened to be powerful enough to shoot your sisters eye out with but was a hoot to shoot at such things as empty cigarette packs and such.

That was the Fanner Fifty and it was stronger enough and accurate enough to shoot all the balls off the Christmas tree from about 10 feet. Boy does my rear end still hurt!!

Since nobody else has brought it up yet.

How many rounds does Lucas fire during the walkdown at the start of each episode?

I've tried to count it a couple of times and it isn't easy. They change the perspective from a broad shot to a close-up, then the shots don't seem to be synchonized with the lever. I usually get either 12 or 13.

I always like the part where after unloading the rifle he pulls 1 round out of his shirt pocket, loads it, then smiles. Guess he already took out all 12 or 13 bad guys and that is is just for insurance.

When I was a kid I took great pride in knowing that it was 12 rounds. Then I had to open my big mouth and wreck it:what:

But I enjoyed both vids. Lucas sure does a bunch of shootin' for a "peaceable" man.

Thanks

Um guys it is on channel 528 (Western Channel) on satelite everyday at 4:30 pm. Jedi beat me to the post. The force was with him.

Thanks, Lucky! I haven't seen The Rifleman since the first time it aired. I grew up wearing cap powered six guns, and never missed an episode. Nice to be able to see it again, but now you've gone and inspired me to take up Cowboy Action.

This will probably get expensive... :D

It made the cows do much worse. The only way to keep those cows working was to surround them with bulls. That's why there's so much bull today.
