The RUGER OLD ARMY Club

There are a number of these pictured in this thread, way back… when Rugers were still cheaply available…

@[email protected] had at least one of them.

Back in the dark ages I was hooking up a Morrow gas well for production a long way back in the boonies. Go to Carlsbad, NM, head south almost to the Texas line, turn east , ford the Pecos River, and drive 8 more miles, and spend the day welding 4" schedule 180 pipe to hold the 5000 psi pressure. Nothing there but me and some scruffy mesquite and grease wood bushes. I never saw a living creature except for a couple of hawks flying by. The last day when I knew I would finish I took my Old Army, a can of 4 F BP, some round balls, and my Super BlackHawk with some factory loads to do a power comparison. I knew there would be 2 cinder blocks left and I intended to see just how much damage each gun would do to a block. I stood the blocks on end, backed off about 20 yards, loaded the OA with all the BP a cylinder would hold and proceeded to fire 6 shots at one of the blocks. No misses and the block was still standing although missing some chunks of material. I switched to the 44 magnum and one shot was all it took. Just a little pile of cinder block pieces remained. I put up my guns, loaded up the mess I had made, and drove the 100+ mile trip home.
