My two purpose set up stalking rifles that tagged deer this year. Both good for anything under 250 yds without compensation. 223 55gr PSP and 308 150gr PSP.

Here's my two entries, both Rem M7s with 20" barrels.

.260Rem with PacNor "Ultra-Match" 3 groove fluted barrel in a Manners EH-8 CF Stock. 7lbs even with Leupold 2.5-9x36 scope:

.350RM from the custom shop in another Manners EH8 stock. 6.45 lbs with Leupold 2.5-8x36 scope in Warne QD rings. It's also got a Swarovski 1.25-4X for the thick stuff. This little gem leaves a mark on both ends:

I guess the only thing I’ve got to fit the bill currently is my savage axis in .243win. It isn’t pretty but it shoots great and carries easy.
Mine is a Savage Axis II (so it has the accutrigger) in .25-06 topped with a Leupold VX-3i 3.5-10x40. I agree it isn't pretty, but it also shoots great and I think it checks all the boxes: >= .25 cal? Check! Flat shooting to 250 yards? Double Check! Easy to carry? 22" barrel and 7.4 lbs empty - Check!

Here’s my version of a Practical & Stalking Rifle.
It’s a Tikka T3x Lite Compact chambered in .308 Win. 20” barrel.
Topped with a Vortex Diamondback 1.75-5 x 32 BDC
I’ve replaced the bottom metal with a aluminum one from Mountain Tactical and it has a five round magazine also from Mountain Tactical
With scope weighs in at 6.5lbs unloaded.View attachment 1097255
“Custom” paint job by me….
I like the paint job. How did you do it?

Dang. Some of them scopes look bigger and heavier (I know they are not) then the rifles they are on!! Make mine plain, no scope please. :)

Nice and simple...

Technically a red dot is not a "scope", it's s "sight".
I could call this one, but it's more of a modernized combat version of the old standard classic.

My “stalking rifle” for several years has been a Ruger M77 Hawkeye All-Weather in 300wm. It’s not ultralight, nor did I mean for it to be, but it’s light enough for me to carry in hand, and has potency and accuracy which let me reach way out there when long stalks still yield long shots.

Oh yeah...I've drooled all over that thing before. (or my keyboard anyhow) Also saw that same picture in the dictionary next to: "cool". That rifle is something else!

Not my cup-O-tea, but that is pretty cool. My idea of a AR is the M16A1, but I would not kick that out of the safe. I only have two scoped rifles, my replica/bogus SMLE No.4(T), and my 7.7 carbine with small Bushnell pretty much identical to your Burris. Nice rifle.

Is anything in 7.62x39 qualified to be a stalking rifle?
....you tell me

I think that defining a "Stalking Rifle" would be difficult at best, with a lot of disagreement. But, a bit of stalking would be required with the moderate powered cartridges such as the 7.62X39mm, .30WCF, .35Remington, etc., compared to the high powered, long range cartridges. So, we hereby qualify your rifle. !!!!

Not at all attractive, in fact will chase maggots off a gut pile it’s so ugly but the Steyr Scout is a fantastic stalking rifle. A classic pattern British stalking rifle is a thing of beauty and elegance. Very unlike the utilitarian Germanic Scout.

But as far as usability and versatility I’ll take the scout. And I’m sure I’ll spend eternity in Riflemen’s hell for saying that. ;)

IMHO there's some aesthetics to a good utilitarian to modify Townsend Whelan's quote accurate rifles are interesting but ultimately my opinion is just that and I'll pray to the rifle God's for your salvation lol.

That thing is exactly my cup-0-tea, and beautiful to my Ugly eyes. And, nothing ugly about the caliber. That is a cool rifle. I like it. It's perfect.

I don’t yet but I am planning on rectifying it one day

scratch the above statement my CZ 527 6.5 Grendel fits this perfectly I forgot I had it because my Mother in law loves it so much I basically loan it to her for deer season and that’s that lol
