This is my Dan Wesson 14-2 I picked up for a song. I had the 14-2 completely cerakoted inside and out because the factory finish was shot. I think it will serve me well for beating around in the bushes. Let me know what ya think. Feel free to show your woods companion.

It is O.D. Green with black cylinder release, hammer, ejector rod, ejector star, front sight and trigger.

Got a question if you are game?

How's the wear progressing on the part of the cylinder across the locking notches that is being marked by cylinder lock? Is it just kind of holding steady, has it reached a point and stopped, is it progressing, even slightly?

I've always like cerakote, but wondered how it fares in higher friction applications.

Well the locking notches are the lesser wear areas when you consider the forcing cone and top strap are cerakoted. Right now, I have around 600 rounds through it; probably 400 being full house 158g jacketed magnum handloads and the top strap has faded where cutting occurs and that is all I have noticed, it has not wore through the cerakote. That stuff is tuff.

Maybe to answer your question more direct, it shows a turn ring, but it is just more shiny than the rest. I will keep you updated if you wish but I see great potential with the cerakote. It could be the oil too, it seems to me like it absorbs oil and holds it, it's just different, you have to try it. If I had any other guns with questionable finishes, I would cerakote them.

Yup, that's a gun alright.
Should work just fine provided it fits your hand and ya practice with it.

Nice! My father-in-law has a 4" Dan Wesson and the trigger is really nice.

Here is my favorite woods gun. Security Six.

I can't argue with anybody rescuing a Dan Wesson and putting it to good use. You have made a wise choice.

I to have have to go with a Dan Wesson revolver also but for me the 1976 15-2 I bought new. Easy to change barrels for hunting to a 8" barrel and swap out to a 4" or less for trail use in the of season. I like the look of the cerakot but the wear from the years gone by is fine too.

I too like the look of honest wear, especially if its my wear, but this dan wesson was in bad shape. Someone had taken it upon themselves to try to reblue the whole thing using cold blue, looked like they had put it on with a toothbrush, it was bad. I should have taken before and after pics.

Cool, reminds me of the Colt Peacekeeper I lusted after as a teenager.

It's really OD? It looks jet black in the pic.

Not bad at all. Cerakote is good stuff. Traditionally I think autos, but still looks good for a bang around the woods revolver type gun. My woods guns are mostly stainless. Easy to fix a minor scuff mark.

I think I'd go with my Security Six. It's tough enough, accurate enough, and packable enough to be almost perfect in my book. There's revolvers I like better but this one is very well rounded.

If you ever deside to make it look like new again the man that owns Blue Ridge Blueing did DW revolvers for some time years back.

Here is mine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Recently my woods guns are either a SP101 3" or a Ruger Alaskan 44. The SP101 can utilize fairly hot loads with some control and isn't very noticeable for CCW situations or in open carry. The Alaskan is a hunk, however you carry it.

My favorite woods/trail gun is my Taurus® Mdl 425SS4 chambered in 41 Remington® Magnum..........
