The thread on rattlesnakes got me to thinking. Who is the unluckiest outdoorsman you know.
My younger brother has to be it.
Here is a brief resume'
When we were kids he was playing around looking for some junk in an old hangar at the airport in Santa Fe NM, he stuck his hand in a box thinking there might be some hidden treasure in it. And got bit by a little prairre rattler.
Spent three or four days in intensive care and they had to split his swollen hand from the tip of his thumb to his wrist.
Several years later he got bit on the shin by a brown recluse spider. That was ugly serious tissue lose and a long time to heal up.
Several years after that he got bit on the tounge by a black widow spider. YES on the tounge. He picked up scuba regulator that had been in storage for some time and put it into his mouth. unknown to him MS. B. Widow had a comfy little nest built up inside the regulator. Tounge swelled so bad he nearly suffocated.
About 4 years ago we were up in the valle Vidal of NM elk hunting, cmaped at a camp ground. About 02:00 in the morning my brother awakes to crushing sensation. He sit up right and the bear that was trying to remove him from his sleeping bag swats him across the face cuting up his nose and eyebrow.
So in last twenty or so years he's been:
Attcked by one venomous snake two different species of poisonous spiders and a bear.
A picture of the stalwart bear fighter post bear with a big nose and face full of pretty little stitches.
