Thinking about acquiring foreign milsurp rifle

I don't have the K31 Swiss or any Brit rifles. That is the next on the list. Problem for me is I reload and finding what I need is a little problematic. Biggest issues for me right now is primers. I am good with my M96 for now.

I am a little late to this party, but be on the lookout for large rifle primers. Once you get into these old war horses that is the one thing they all will need. The next thing I think I would grab on sight is any die set you might even think you are going to use. That 6.5 Japanese die, grab it now you likely will never see another.

They are great fun, and really about all I shoot now. True it is not the best time to dive into this pool, prices are expensive.

As you reload, and you really need to if playing with this stuff, I would not look twice at surplus ammo, the cleanup is just not worth it, and prices now are so close to what you can load them for.

Yes, there is just "something about" an Enfield. I obtained mine when they were in the $100 range, but after that a few more when I just stumbled into good deals. I'd always snap up a Longbranch, although I never paid much for one of those either.

I agree, this is really not a "surplus" board, there are others for that if you want to go deep, or the OP wants to go deep.

They are all different, they are all the same. Shooting a 7.7 japanese rifle is just different somehow. How the rifle feels going to the shoulder and pulling the trigger just feels so different from even a 1903 or MAS36 or Enfield..........

I will cut off with this.....

When these got made there are very few "bad" ones. Even the ones people poopoo on are not bad rifles, that SPECIFIC rifle may have had a very hard life, but don't judge all by a single well warn example.

We all know the mosin, and we all know the feelings around them. I had them as well.

This one.

Is basically a new rifle. Crisp, sharp and other words you would never use around a mosin come to mind when using this rifle. Now people are going to say.....well that is an american one..... True, but they are all built to a standard. And the russians got real picky.

I have a Carcano that falls into this same group, crisp and sharp.

Point is no country sent its young me to war setup to fail.....well at least not in WWI or WWII
