Thanks everyone, there is a gun is Ohio this weekend I will look to see what they based on your suggestions, and hopefully find something I like. This will be my first .22, pistol or rifle. Thanks again.

Medina Gun Show?

If you are anywhere east of Cleveland, Great Lakes Outdoors in Middlefield has pretty good prices on CZs (and most guns in general). Hve bought 4 or 5 CZ 452/3s from them. Last I was there to pick up an Ultra Lux (had to special order), I almost also bought the new Marlin Mod 60 they had on the shelf but there was a very small nick on the otherwise very nice looking stock and, unfortunately, I'm a bit of a stickler on details and passed it up. $160, IIRC. They also had used one there. (Considered the 60 just to see for myself about its abilities. Did fire n acquaintence's at the range one time and didn't care for the heavy trigger but felt I could probably work on that if I had a 60.)

If you ever decide not to go with the bolt action choice I'd suggest looking at the basic Henry Lever action. Fun little gun to have lying around for when you don't want to take one of the big boomers out.. Or for "stealth" elimination of rodents/pests

Or when you don't want to scratch up the Model 39.:D

Rugar makes a really nice semi automatic nice and cheap they run at about 150$. They only problem that i have with ours is the clips after 4-5 years they springs in the clips go bad but there cheap like 15$

Check with CDNN Sports in Abilene for the Charles Daly Zastava Target .22.
Now labeled as and sold by Reminton, same gun is over $200.
CDNN sells them for $149.99.

Zastava is nicer, too, than the Remmie, I think. Stock is different.

Another vote for the CZ 452. A superb rifle at a reasonable price. Probably the best value and shooter available at the price. Another option would be a Henry Lever Action, lots of fun.

Oh, did I mention the Marlin Model 60?

Under $150, slap a $40 scope on it and have a blast.
Mine shoots sub 1/2" groups (3-9x Tasco scope) at 50 yards, using Wolf Match Target ammo. Outshoots my buddies Win Model 52 target w/ 24x Unertl scope($2500), by a slight margin using ANY ammo.

P.S. If you wanna spend more $$$$ the CZs get rave reviews, as you can see.

I am in a similar position, I would like to buy a 22 bolt action for my brother, preferably under $150. I noticed the Savage Mark II in advertisments, that is 149.99, how are they reliability and accuracy wise?

Doubt you can get anything for 150...maybe a used rusted barn rifle....
better save your lunch money and get something decent...Marlin, Ruger,
or Remington...maybe set a budget number of 350 or less....then you can get something decent...that will last for years...and not be wasted money...

I know prices are up, but if you can live with tube-fed you should still be able to get a Marlin 981T for about $150 or so.

Accuracy will be average.
Average is about all you can reasonably expect for ~ $150.
I know nothing about the Savage, but I suspect the same applies.

So how are the Savage Mark II's? They are a lot less than other 22's around me and I don't want to go and spend $300 or $400 on this thing.

Mk II with the Accutrigger or without…..?

If it has it you'll find it’s a pretty good little rifle for the money even if the mags are a tad hard on the fingers. W/o the Accutrigger it's just another 22.

I have a Savage that came w/o and to get an acceptable trigger (my opinion of acceptable mine you) cost me about $75 or $80 to install a RifleBasix unit. At that price you're in the hunt for a CZ Trainer/Special so don't go there.

Go back and read my earlier post. Do you not have a pawn shop in you area you would trust to order a TOZ for you. As you can see prices vary wildly. A few phone calls to an honest local shop or two and a little patience might get you a TOZ at about 150-ish. If they start quoting you crazy high prices you'll have the benefit of knowing they are rip-off artists :)

If you hop over to rimfirecentral.com you will find a wealth of info on 22 rifles. The TOZ seems to get good feedback.
