I'm thinking about getting a PTR 91. I was looking into Fals but the wait and the price got me looking in another direction. I have owned neither. Are the PTRs good rifles? I have seen both the Century Fal and G3. I just don't trust Century.

Any experience with the PTR 91? Any reason I shouldn't get one? I'm looking for a semi auto 308. I can't afford a M1A/M14. I assume you can put a scope rail on the PTRs. I would use it for range, plinking and maybe hunting. Please let me know what you think.

A few of the models of PTR-91's come with scope rails. They're made to original specs on original HK equipment, and they're a bargain compared to original HK-91s.

I have 1 PTR and 2 Fals and love all three of them. I personally would lean towards a Fal, but you can't go wrong with a PTR either, especially with the cheap mags you can find for them. I had a Williams set trigger put in mine and you wouldn't believe how nice it is. I would get one of the PTR's with the scope rail. The HK style claw mount sits up pretty high and some of the other aftermarket scope mounts seem kind of crappy.

I have PTR and a couple of DSA FALs.

For the money the PTR is hard to beat, and mine has been 100% reliable and accurate.

I "like" the FALs more ergonomically but I am getting used to the HK style and it's not as bad as I thought it was going to be, just takes some shooting to get used to it.

I love my PTR 91K. Besides being a bargain some would argue that they are as well made as the HK, if not better. The welds are often offered as an example of where the PTR exceeds the HK.
