i went and checked today had been thinking trading my loaded 1911 for a TRP
i just hate to give as much to boot and still have 1gun.when for same amount could have 2.I handled a XD and a Glock liked both, just hard to overlook Glocks track record.Just not sure if i want another 45 or go with a 10MM

Ugly, impersonal, totally reliable. Not a connoisseur pistol, but every household should have at least one. Just a fantastic tool. Carry a Glock, buy custom revolvers and 1911s to fawn over...

;)

Before you decide on a Glock or XD, take a look at a SA XDm 4.5 45 ACP. Fully supported "Match Grade" barrel conventionally rifled to shoot cast bullet loads and a relieved ejection port to avoid dinging brass. Mine is a tack driver. If you decide on 10mm then the Glock is your only polymer option.;)

i would have one if they fit my hand. shot a glock 22 and couldnt hit jack with it. tried and tried (for about an hour) in a gun shop to make myself like the glock 36 but just couldnt.

as for the 2 guns vs for the same price, i would go with what you are going to shoot. its hard for me to take range time away from my carry piece as i feel thats what i need to be most proficient with.

good luck!!

Both are just good tools like Craftsman wrench or Stanley screwdriver.

Yep. I gave up and bought one. 2, actually. I bought a gen4 17. Ran great and decided I wanted a glock to ccw. Sold the 17 and bought a gen3 19. Everyone should own a glock 19. I'm thinking that I may get a g30sf to keep it company. Those are the glocks that I have shot that are the most fun and mostly comfortable. I am not a fan of the full size models, that hump at the back annoys me.

Is it perfection? No, nothing on this earth is.

I'm still annoyed by the glock hard core fans...you know the type. The ones who think the glock is the best thing ever made and you're foolish for owning anything else...the same ones who act as if you've committed a sin for installing a 3 lb transfer bar or an extended slide stop or anything else that gaston didn't approve.

Wow....A 1911 for a Glock? That's a first.

But it's tough to beat a Glock. They ain't much to look at but they are boringly reliable. I do like mine. But I like my 1911 better.

If that's what you want then go for it....That's the good thing about living in the USA, freedom of choice.

CZ57 mentioned the XDm. However, my dealer, who sells Glock and Springfield and is a no bull type of person said he didn't see enough difference with the XDm to justify the price difference vs. the XD. I shot a 5" Tactical XD for a while and really enjoyed the feel it gave. I have since went back to a Gen IV Glock 23 and enjoy shooting it also. Springfield and Glock both make good firearms in my opinion. The main question in the equation is what fits you better and what you are comfortable with the most because your going to be the one shooting it.

I carried a S&W revolver and then bought a plastic M&P in 9mm. Nice pistol. I then got a Glock and like it's been said, not pretty but comes to hand well, reliable and easy to shoot.

Still like revolvers but when I CC the Glock makes it easier to keep my pants up.

I was not a believer at first... but.. the hype is indeed true.

1. Super reliable.
2. Rugged and indestructible
3. Little maintenance
4. Looks like a real gun
5. Accurate
6. The sub compact can use larger model's magazines
7. Simple in design = less can go wrong
8. Good value for the price.
9. The G26/ G27 models can disappear when carried IWB. Great carry guns.

Do yourself a favor. Buy a Glock. It's one of those, "I wish I knew then what I know now".

Since I quit smoking (thank you Lord) I've saved about $10. a day for almost 6 months now. I shot my first and only glock (19) several months ago. I liked the way it shot. I shot much better with it than with my Browning. I've not priced them, but I would think I could get a new 19 for around $500 (maybe less). That seems like a lot of money as I bought a Browning hp practical for $402 out the door about 7 years ago. I just can't get over how well I shot the glock.

He must be overlooking the interchangeable backstraps that make my pistol feel like it's glued to my hand with the #2 insert on my XDm .45. Then there's the match grade barrel to consider and the added feature that allows you to remove the slide without triggering the striker. The XDm is definitely worth the slight extra price difference.;)

Glock is Great !!!

I have 3 G19s and 2 G21s. The G19s make good CCW handguns and the G21s are great holster/house guns. I am rarely without my G19..........:D
